== General ==
* Translation of CfP are being translated on meta
* Translation of CfP announcement was updated, translated and
distributed to local projects and mailinglists.
* Stuffs need to translate and their status are now found at the
website. See http://wikimania2006.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania:Translations
== CfP translation ==

versions, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Japanese are waiting for
proofreading. You can help to review it and join in last minute
editing.
* German translation is going on. If you speak German, you may want to
join and work with Martin ;-)
* French translators are being called for. Everyone can start the page
requested.
* Wouldn't you like to have CfP in your own language? Create your lang
version or contact User:Aphaia or User@:Sj on meta.
Workplace: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2006_Call_for_Participation
== Main Page translation ==
* Translation coordinators are now trying to make sure if it is
already ready to translate. It will be not afar from now that
Wikimania main page is available in many languages.
== Editorial ==
Have you thought if not only content, but also administrative
documents like CfP could be helpful to recruit new editors?
A Japanese Editor, Mr. Ota has recently confessed it was the CfP in
his own language that had made him to attend last year conference -
Wikimania 2005. Now he is known one of most active contributors on
wikija-l mailinglist, and enjoying Wikimania translation on meta.
Translation is not always remarkable parts of our activities, and
hardly recognized. But it doesn't mean no result come forth from it.
As for recognition, we can remind a Chinese legend; a Chinese king
walked around in one day, and he met an old man who tapped his own
berry, satisfying meals. The old man said to the king he has no
interest at what the king did at all. The king was very pleased - he
thought, if he would have governed the kingdom wrongly, then the merry
old man should have concerned with his king and what he had done and
would do. The better work, the less concious - like air to the living.

Though you can't have time or any other things you feel to need, you
can also help Wikimania team to help CfP and Call for participation
distribution.
Last year, we translated CfP and other info into many languages -
almost ten when the site was launched. Expectedly, those bunch of
information will be available in languages as many as last year.
The translation team has been going on meta platform.
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_requests/Wikimania
Now there are two documents requested for translation (one is long,
another is very short)
If you joined the last year team, consider to be back.
If you were not then, consider to join us.
I assure - it will be fun ;-)

Dear all,
The English Wikipedia is approaching its millionth article this week.
A tidy milestone.
We are working on a press release for the event:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/PR/1M-en
If you are interested in helping identify the millionth article,
please leave a note on the talk page.

I don't know where to put this partly-finished text... Three related thoughts:
1) One of the reasons given for speedily deleting Wikimania
proceedings from wikibooks without discussion was that some of the
content was not in English. I do not think that having part of a book
intended for English-speaking readers in a foreign language should be
grounds for deletion.
2) The Farsi wikibook on the english wikibooks is just a set of links
deep into the fa.wikibooks book: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Farsi
Perhaps we just need Farsi training materials in more languages to
help clarify where to put them all? The book isn't /useless/ where it
is now unless would-be authors can't effectively edit it in place.
3) The Farsi Wikipedia just passed 10,000 articles. Congrats :-)

Dear all,
As of 4th February 2006, the board has approved the initial members of
the Chapters Committee. All details can be found here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapters committee.
The chapters committee's primary function is to assist in the creation
of Wikimedia Chapters throughout the world (see
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_chapters) as well as assist
the existing Chapters in their day to day relationship with the
Wikimedia Foundation. Those goals and duties will be refined with
time.
Please feel free to ask any questions or give advice on the meta talk
page and add to our todo list.
Delphine
PS. to the translators mailing list. If you could translate this and
send it to your respective language mailing lists, this would be
grand. Thank you.
