Hello Aphaia
I have done a lot of translation for the trustee board elections, but did not have a vote, because I did not have enough edits. For voting editors had to have a large number of edits (if I remember rightly minimum 400) to be able to vote. We also had arbitrators and stewards elections. Now there is a Picture of the year competition on Commons, needing 100 edits.
If you spend your time on translating you cannot use your time with edits and might take a lot of time to obtain enough edits to vote. If this is the case then translators are penalised in elections.
If translators can obtain rights to vote for any elections by doing lots of translations instead of editing then their work effort is rewarded.
Sorry if all this was not clear in my previous mail
Louis

As far as I assume rightly you meant here something to
write/full-scratch as "editing", totally I agree.

I have no idea what you are talking. Which voting?

I am afraid I am lost here too. what do you mean with "the list of my
activities in my target language"?

Because translation is not editing it does not mean that it cannot take a lot of effort. Is there an editing equivalent to translations, or are our efforts ignored when it comes to voting ?
The reason I ask this question is because looking at the list of my activities in my target language I found no translation effort credits. Further, I understand that because Meta does not belong to any chapter any translation you do on it cannot be credited. Is this right, or have I missed something somewhere?

Hello,
thank you for your translation of "Wikimedia press releases/Wikipedia,
Stronger and More Stable than Ever, but Still very Dependent on the
Community's Support".
A brief update:
* Need copyedit, perhaps also need to match the changes on original (en.)
** Fr, Fi, It
* Need copyedit (not need to diff check, created after changes the above)
** Pl
* Need help
** Ja
* Requested
** Es, Ru, Zh ...
Background information and ideas may be found at foundation-l;
Florence posted her close description what has been going on.
If your village pump is already bombing with the questions "is it
really that Wikipedia will go away" type rumors/misunderstandings, you
may want to begin with a much brief note, issued on 8 February.

Hello there,
there are some materials wanted your hands; Wikimedia press releases,
in details, two press releases about Advisory Board and Enwp tags all
links NoFollow.
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_press_releaseshttp://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_press_releases/Advisory_Boardhttp://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_press_releases/English_Wikipedia_t…
Those two press releases are so significant that we would like to
share globally, even issued a bit earlier. I put two of them on TR
already and thankfully some of you reacted already.
Also there are two being drafted press releases and we'll ask your
help within days. We'll appreciate your kindly help ;)
Other all press released sorted under the section
"published" are also ready to translate and if you find special
interest, you are encouraged to pick up what
you like and share the information with your community.
"Florence remarks" is useful in my personal opinion, specially for
bloggers who would like to point it out that "the rumor Wikipedia is
going out in three or four months is a rumor based on a misquote of
Anthere"; I myself quoted it on my blog (in Japanese). On the other
hand now we are engaged in one newer and more detailed press release
about this issue, "remark" press release is not mandatory to be
translated. Personally I recommend you to take care of "Advisory
Board" and "No follow" press release at first hand; if your project is
bothered with "SEO marketing spammers", the latter may be very
helpful.

Hi
I've put together an initial first release of a small Firefox
extension (released under GPL).
If you click to see an article in one of the available other
languages, it will display it in a second column alongside the
original text.
You can find it at http://wikipediabilingual.mozdev.org/
Works best with wider screens.
Enjoy,
cheers
Jason
Hi all,
thank you for your assitance always,
As the Transcom chair, I issued a report of our activies from November
2006 till January 2007 to the Board. As experiment, unlike the past
reports, this issue is public, and online available.
[[m:Communications subcommittees/Trans/Reports]]
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Communications_subcommittees/Trans/Reports
It focuses on what happened and was done, so includes no request (they
may be found at [[m:TR]] as always). However the current status of the
WMF website update (Fig. 1) will be a hint from where you may start
your work ...
Your feedback will be welcome at its talk.
Cheers,
