Hey everyone,
apologies for the cross-posting, we're just too excited:
we're looking for a new member for our team [0], who'll dive right away in
the promising Structured Data project. [1]
Is our future colleague hiding among the tech ambassadors, translators,
GLAM people, community members we usually work with? We look forward to
finding out soon.
So please, check the full job description [2], apply, or tell/recommend
anyone who you think may be a good fit. For any questions, please contact
me personally (not here).
Thanks!

You may remember that the Technology department did a major test in April
2016 to see how well they could recover from a major disaster. During this
test, it was not possible to edit Wikipedia or any of the other WMF wikis
for about 30 minutes on two days.
They are repeating this exercise this year. This will affect editors and
contributors around the world, at Wikipedias, Wiktionaries, Wikivoyages,
Commons, and other WMF sites. Please translate the main announcement into
as many languages as possible. Last year, we had complete translations
into about 40 languages, and partial translations into a couple of other
languages.
This should be a relatively quick translation job. The main change from
last year is the dates and times. I have just checked (by creating part of
the German translation), and about 60% of the sentences are identical to
last year and stored in translation memory.
(Also, if you read German, please review the parts of the German
translation that I copied. :-)
If you have questions, you can reach me in e-mail or on wiki.[1]
THANK YOU!

The latest tech newsletter is ready for early translation:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/2017/13
Direct translation link:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-T…
Benoît is planning to send the newsletter on Monday afternoon (UTC), i.e.
Monday morning PT. The existing translations will be posted on the
wikis in that language. Deadlines:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/For_contributors#The_deadlines
There may be a few more edits by Friday, but the existing content
should generally remain fairly stable. Benoît or I will let you know tomorrow
in any case.
*Note*: We've removed the time-related parser function this week,
because it was apparently causing pages to be added to "Category:Pages
with script errors" in many wikis (but only noticed this week when I
missed removing the second of them from the English version). Further
updates on that, will be in the original thread, when someone has time
to look into it more deeply.
Please do tell us if there's anything else we can help you with.

Sorry to have started my answer to this unfortunate invitation to become a
millionaire in my own tongue
We do no t need more millionaires except if we are talking about
education, culture solidarity or goodness.
Money an material things are finite, and if you extract some from one
place, you detract it from another.
I'm annoyed of seeing this kind of advertising in MY WIKIPEDIA.
IT CAN'T BE TRUE a single word of the statement of this Reprehensible add.
Whenever I see Free, Easy, Money Quick or at home on the sofa, know is not
true what they claim. Even if it was, I'm not sure this is the path
WIKIPEDIA should walk.
Please think about it; do not collaborate to promote this dirty and false
kind of Ambition.
I disagree soundly with this.
Even I know my collaboration with our commitment is not important at all,
I'll consider abandoning it if you don't stop or at least explain why is
not an economic lie and and why you are promoting this kind of thing so far
from CULTURE
