[[Wikimedia:Our projects]] <http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Our_projects> has undergone a major update (since April 2007) with new statistics, thanks to active editors on the project each. The page can be translated at <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_requests/WMF/Our_projects> and it would be helpful if it were translated before February 10. All of the translations need to be updated but the past translations can be reused. I would hereby appreciate Dmcdevit (Wiktionary), Brianmc (Wikinews), Crochet.david and Cormaggio (Wikiversity), Whiteknight (Wikibooks). Brianna, known as pfctdayselise has paid her attention and has updated Commons section continuously. I feel happy to invite you translators to re-opened translation request of this page: the need of update is a vital sign of the progress and growth of our project each. The page can be translated at <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_requests/WMF/Current_staff> and it would be helpful if it were translated before February 1. All of the translations need to be updated but the past translations can be reused. [Fundraising] Donate

I echo Aphaia's thanks to all of you for the help during the fundraising drive. The new donations system will probably be used until next year's fundraiser, so translations for a few languages still need to be updated. <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Donate> We have af, ar, bg, ca, cs, da, de, en, es, fa, fi, fr, gl, he, id, it, ja, lt, ml, nb, nl, pl, pt, tr, zh all published and we have ht, nn, sr in progress. However, we still need updates of the old fundraising system for the following languages: ast, br, bs, cy, el, eo, et, ga, hi, hr, hu, ko, lb, pms, ro, ru, sh, sk, sl, su, th, vi, wa, yi. As always, any other languages are more than welcome. If you have any questions about translations or words used in the new system, please do not hesitate to reply to this thread or visit us on Freenode (IRC) at #wikimedia-translation! [Fundraising] FAQ not yet published

Hi there, Thank you for all your help during the fundraising drive. after the end of fundraising drive for half and two months, I found some relics, trying to reorganize our meta workspace. FAQ. There are some barely finished translations - in other words need your strokes to get them ready to upload. These are: * Hebrew: labelled " not proofread yet" also needs the he-title. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2007/Fundraising_FAQ_-_translati… * Indonesian: Need to proofread, at least its title in Indonesian should be given (Fundraising FAQ -> id equivalent) * Norwegian (Bokmal) Need to proofread? Also needs the no-title. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2007/Fundraising_FAQ_-_translati… * Tagalog Need to proofread if possible. Also needs the tl-title. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2007/Fundraising_FAQ_-_translati… I must admit most of info on those page are now pointless but I think not every piece. Info about possibility of getting receipts, for example, is still valid and therefore useful our current and future donors. So I think those are worthy to be finished. The Spanish version is unfinished as of yet but Arria is kindly working on that at this moment. I really appreciate her help. Also I miss the Polish version. If someone works on that, he or she will be very appreciated. In other languages, as well. And there are still many needs about updating/creating [[Donate/xx]]. Hi - my first post to this list! Hello everyone - sorry the translation process has not gotten a lot of love from me so far, and thanks to everyone who has jumped in and helped. Hi Stacey, great suggestion to have context hints for messages. Niklas thought the same thing a few days ago and implemented it. Now we need 'people in the know' to document them. The hints are being displayed when editing messages. We keep the messages in a language code assigned to 'local' in ISO 639-3, 'qqq'. Take for example 'editingsection' or 'editingcomment'. The English is pretty vague and sure enough the translation was rather silly when I finally saw it in Wikipedia. Siebrand claims it only takes 16 hours to translate the most used messages, but that's only if you know exactly what the variables in messages are and which messages are variables in other messages . <snip>

Hi Wegge. Too bad you appear to be not willing to be more specific (my interpretation) and enter a dialogue. If you would come to *any* platform to address specific your concerns, I am certain that you would find that we are *very* open to any concerns. As I already explained: i18n is for developers, L10n is for translators. If you choose to be a developer, why do you choose to translate!? Repeating myself: *Localisation or L10n - the process of adapting the software to be as familiar as possible to a specific locale *Internationalisation or i18n - the process of ensuring that an application is capable of adapting to local requirements Please acknowledge that I do not wish to depreciate your efforts in any way. On the contrary: I value *and* appreciate *any* contribution to MediaWiki localisation.
