Dear translation-l,
I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself, I've just joined the
Fundraising department at the WMF as the Fundraiser Translation
Coordinator. Ill be helping out with working with the translation community
over the 2012 Fundraiser and I can honestly say I am nothing short of
excited. *Ill be working remotely for the most part from the United
Kingdom, *Some of you will know me from my volunteer involvement but a load
of you wont so Id like to give you a bit of my background.
*First edited the english wikipedia in 2006 but didnt really become active
till 2007 working on tropical cyclones and dispute resolution. Iv been
pretty heavily involved with Wikimedia UK since it reformed in 2008 join
its board in 2009 working with the GLAM's and supporting the chapters
fundraising activities. I left leaving the board of WMUK in February 2011
and a couple of months later joined the Wikimedia Foundation as a
production coordinator working on the 2011-12 Fundraiser. In real life I
just recently completed a 4 year masters degree in Exploration and Resource
Geology at Cardiff University.*
I look forward to the coming months. If any of you have any questions feel
free to post on this list, grab me in the #wikimedia-translation or
#wikimedia-fundraising channels (nick: *Seddon* OR *Seddon_WMF)* or email
me direct at jseddon {at} wikimedia.org
Thanks all

Hi all,
The translation committee has been dormant for some time (individual
members have been active, but the committee as such has not been active),
but it is time to revive it to ensure that the translation process on Meta
is viable. As several members of the committee are currently busy with
other things, and because it would be nice to have several more members in
the committee so that it will function well even when some members are
inactive.
Therefore, this is a call for volunteers to serve on the committee. If you
have any experience with handling translations on Meta, Translatewiki or
anywhere else you are welcome to join. In fact, you don't need much more
experience than with translating stuff – the new system and tools we have
available on Meta make the process of managing translation much easier than
it has been in the past (and if you don't know how to do that yet, we will
give you training).
If you are interested in becoming a part of this committee, please send us
an e-mail either on this list, to the transcom list (
transcom(a)lists.wikimedia.org), or to me (jsoby(a)wikimedia.org).
