You need to give praise where praise is due: this time it is very nicely put Excellent wording !

Because the 'from' follows immediately the verb 'donated' it refers to it.
The whole problem is avoided if the verb is changed to a noun (this comes from an English teacher), so the best wording would be.replacing 'all those who donated' with 'all donors'
The usage (or misusage) is not uncommon
Another way is to put a full stop after donated and the rest is taken as a signature
Yet another way of putting it:
Wikipedia Foundation expresses its gratitude (or its thanks) to all those who donated
or adding ' to its (charitable) organisation'

Heh. Yes tricky ... perhaps Brion (he made it) didn't want to place
two links too much nearer ... WMF thanks blah blah
blah. I agree the current placement is well-balanced. And "Thank you
to the Foundation" is doublly wrong since 1) it is recursive and make
no sense here and 2) even if so, it would be better replaced with
"for" ..
On the other hand, it could be confused specially non-native Speakers.
If your language syntax allows, you can freely translate it. In the
Japanese version (SOV), we can say "Wikimedia / all of you..../
thanks" so we neatly avoided "from/to" problem ;p

Fundraising is over now. Now the time of expressing gratitude has come
instead of plea and begging. For now a small modification will be okay
... in the first line
previous: You can give the gift of knowledge by donating to the
Wikimedia Foundation!
now: Thank you to all
those who donated from the [[Wikimedia thanks all
contributors|Wikimedia Foundation]]!
Thank you for your cooperations,

Once in the following link:
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Wikimedia_thanks_all_contributors
we erase the word 'from' and replace it with 'to' the whole text is fine.
No drastic change is needed, but the change is urgent

The DIFFICULT we'll do at once ! The IMOSSIBLE takes a bit longer (Churchill)

I modified the message so for Japanese version. The first to the Thank
you note, the second to the equivalent of Wikimedia:Home. I think
however we needn't to be worried about that so much at this moment,
since it would be possible much more drastically renewed one comes
soon.
We can expect Fundcom has us known what kind of message comes there.

Agreed. For this purpose I would like to know if the current version
is ready to translate and expect Fundcom folks let us know that.
Cheers,

I have just started to look into the translation requests. I wonder a
couple of things, and I bring it to the list since I am sure there
must be plenty other translators in similar situations.
The pages for the current fundraiser will only be used for a couple of
weeks, but many other pages remain for a long time. Those pages
generally get changed and updated as reality changes. In the current
translation requests, there is for example the page on the Board, and
on the current staff. In both cases, new people will come and others
will leave. If a page like this is translated and not updated, it
looks very bad. Old or wrong information is often worse than no
information at all, and in this case outdated translated info will
prevent people to instead visit the corresponding page in a language
where the info is correct.
If I translate a page, I can not promise to be here to update it
later. If my local community was bigger - and/or more generally
interested in stuff above the local community level - I could count on
other people replacing me, but as things are now I can that is
something I can hope for but not count on. If we don't implement some
kind of system to deal with outdated pages, I am a little afraid of
translating such pages. I feel that in the end I might have done more
bad than good.
How can we deal with outdated translations? One _could_ tag a
translated page saying which version of another page it is translated
from. Others who don't speak the language in question can then decide
whether the information is too outdated to be around, and somehow
remove the page - I suppose redirecting it to the English, or other
suitable, version is a working idea. Does anyone have a better
suggestion?

Is there any concensus regarding how wikilinks to articles in, for
instance, English Wikipedia should be handled when translating?
Can/should they be replaced with a link to corresponding page on the
wiki in the language I translate to, or not? Can I and the other
Swedish translators change the wikilinks to point to the articles we
see fit, and remove them at our choice, or not?
It is not always that wikilinking seems to have been performed with
great care. For instance, the beginning of
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_requests/WMF/Board_of_Trustees
is much more heavily wikilinked than the rest. I can think of several
names and concepts that can be wikilinked in that text, that are not.
Another example: the word "engineer" in the description of Anthere is
wikilinked to an article about a special type of prestigious French
universities which does not seem very intuitive. The Swedish wikipedia
does have an article on the topic
http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandes_%C3%89coles
but it is really just a list of mainly red links to university names,
and does not make much sense to link to. Is it OK to remove that link,
and wikilink for instance Kennisnet in the section about Jan-Bart?

Well, I'm back from my trip, and before I try to grok TR pages.. is
there anything new or urgent that needs translation to spanish?
Also, I should get internet at home (finally!) in the next 3 days, so
I'll be around even more often than before.
Hello, translators-l subscribers!
This Saturday at 10:00 UTC/GMT, the mailing lists was shifted to a new
server. This would cause a downtime for the Wikimedia mailing lists
(and may also incidentally affect other Wikimedia mail systems). My
apologies for late reporting. Also my gratutude for Chiacomo, whose
mail I borrowed to write up this notice.
All Wikimedia mailing lists were also shifted to a new subdomain, so
that the translators-l mailing list email address is now in fact
"translators-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org ". You will still be able to send
mail to the mailing list via the current (translators-l(a)wikimedia.org
) email address, but all emails will have fields like "reply-to"
reflect the new address. This will break most email filters which
subscribers have in place to tag mailing list emails and sort them, so
many of you will have to tweak your settings a bit once the change is
made.
Sorry for any inconvenience and confusion this might cause. Please let
me know if you have any questions -- I will endeavor to answer them
with helps of Wikimedia network administrators.
