For neither Hebrew nor Yiddish does the Upload Wizard appear

Apparently my last few messages didn't go through to this list. Hopefully
this will work...
With less than 19 hours until the Board elections start, there are an
alarming number of languages where not all of the candidate statements are
translated (seven of the top ten language Wikipedias are not completely
translated!)
* German (6 statements not translated)
* Italian (1 statement)
* Japanese (~8 statements)
* Polish (2 statements)
* Portuguese (13 statements)
* Russian (~11 statements)
* Spanish (13 statements)
There are many more languages outside the top ten that are not completely
translated. We want to make sure that voters have access to candidate
information in as many languages as possible, and your help is greatly
appreciated.

Hi Translators!
There has been a big push recently on work within Wikimedia to create &
distribute offline projects relating to Wikipedia to extend reach into those
areas of the world which lack consistent access to Internet. Much work has
been done in this arena in English: resulting in lots of pages about the
project almost exclusively in English.
Recently, progress has been made in creating a selection of offline articles
for use in schools from the Spanish Wikipedia, and an Offline Portuguese
version is also in discussion. As such, it would be great to help
facilitate these language projects through the expansion of the Offline
Projects page on meta: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Offline_Projects
Casey went through and added the navigation template to the pages, and it
would be incredibly useful and helpful to expand upon the languages in which
the information regarding this project are offered. All languages are
eagerly welcome, but *Spanish & Portuguese* specifically are requested.
Like almost all our wiki-pages, the timeline is open-ended, but it would be
ideal to get the Spanish & Portuguese versions done by the *end of June*:
prior to the Ibero-American

I would like to ask again that you take a look at the translation page for
the 2011 board elections, here:

Many languages have been translated (thanks to the people who have helped
with that!), but there are still some pages that were translated in the 2009
elections that aren't done this year. As I said previously, we have tried to
keep the pages as similar as possible to the 2009 ones, so it should not be
too big an effort to translate if your language was translated in 2009.
Additionaly, candidate submissions are set to be started in three days (May
2), and that is usually the biggest bulk of the translation work. As the
candidates come in I will post here once the candidates are verified to be
eligible, so that you will get notifications on when they can be translated.
One should not start translating before they are verified, because in my
experience quite a few people submit their candidacies without actually
being eligible.

The quality, status and up-to-dateness of translations of the old
upload form is very mixed. By switching all languages immediately to
UploadWizard and working with translatewiki.net, we're hoping to
accelerate the process of getting solid localizations across the
board. We apologize for the short term inconvenience this may cause.

The old upload process will remain indefinitely available. There’s no
reason to remove it. This is purely a change to the default process
we’re exposing to the world. We feel we’ve fixed all the obvious bugs
that we know about (there are some annoying bugs that we do know about
left, but they’re not showstoppers). The best way for us to find the
remaining bugs is to have people actually use it as their first upload
experience and to continue to receive and process feedback.
As a reminder, here’s what UploadWizard gets us:
- Up to 10 files can be uploaded in one batch. We are hoping to expand
this feature set to allow for parallel uploading, multi-file
selection, and more.
- Some metadata is automatically extracted and pre-filled.
- You can see thumbnails before you’re completing your upload.
- Error cases should be handled in a clear and understandable interface.
- Less clutter due to systematic learning design as opposed to mixing
instructions and process.
- Much, much friendlier to new users as validated by our usability studies.
Major remaining gotchas:
- If your entire upload takes longer than 25 minutes, it fails. Very
annoying, we know. Not entirely trivial to fix but we know how and
we’ll get to it soon.
- Thumbnails for some file formats (video and audio, for instance) are
not shown during the upload process. This should not affect the
success of the actual upload.
- Right-to-left support is far from perfect and consistent.
Suggestions for improvement are most welcome. If you speak an RTL
language, please hammer the wizard and tell us is if it's a
showstopper issue for you -- we don't think that's the case, but we
need your input.
- There are a number of other known cases where uploads will stall and
the user has no option to fix the problem. It happens much less often
than it does with the old upload form, and we believe the most
important bugs (e.g. title blacklist related failures) will be
squashed as part of this release. There is a link to provide feedback
right in the subtitle of the page – if you do have a problem, please
report as much detail as possible!
How do we know the new process is much improved? Through qualitative
studies of the upload interface. See the report on the multimedia
usability project for details and videos:

We’re also continually user-testing the software through quick and
cheap user-tests using usertesting.com -- we’ll share our first batch
of test videos soon.

I'm very excited about this change and I hope you are, too. :-) We've
received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback regarding the
UploadWizard experience, and while there are still lots of ways in
which we can do better, we hope you'll agree that it's a huge step
forward.
