Hi all,
There was an addition to the core messages/missing translation source[1],
which needs to be
reflected across the other language versions.
Thanks for all your hard work so far. :)

Hey Translators!
You all have done a phenomenal job on the fund-drive so far. :-) We
currently have over 60 languages with the "core messages" completed
and published, that's all thanks to you guys!
However, as some of you may have noticed, we have only translated the
most important pages in "core messages" (Landing page, Donate Now, and
Support/Thank You). Now that have that mostly wrapped up and
completed, we are starting a translation request for the
"supplementary pages". Since there are quite a few of them, we have
broken them down by priority.
1. Missing => There are a few strings needed that weren't given in
"core messages". Some of these are already translated from m:TR/quick
and other places. However, if they're not, please translate them so
that the other pages can be complete.
2. WaysToGive => These are the other ways for users to donate. If
necessary, it is possible to localize this page in addition to
translating it.
2. Video Subtitles => These are the subtitles for the "Jimmy Wales
video". The subtitles are the same as the ones that were used last
year, so some languages are already fully translated.
3. Questions => This is a very large page, you may not want to do this
all at once. :-)
4. Stories => This page for users to submit their stories about
Wikipedia & how it has made their lives easier. They would probably
be more apt to submit a story, if the interface was in their language.
5. Benefactors => A list of benefactors (those who donated a large
amount of money or have donated hardware)
5. Transparency => A page about the Wikimedia Foundation, which
describes their commitment to transparency.
5. Chapters => List of chapters and information about those
participating in the Fundraiser
Thank you for all your hard work so far!
If you have any questions, problems, or concerns, please feel free to
e-mail this list/me or contact us on Skype.

Hi there,
I am now working on Japanese version and I love this year FAQ.
Generally it put a straightfoward message in clear expressions.
I found however a line which I cannot understand and would like you to
share how you have taken it. That is the last line of Section 11
as one of organizational goals
> # Increase distribution beyond Wikipedia
What means "beyond Wikipedia"? Wikipedia in the other forms than
on-line? Or its sibling projects? What means "increase distributions"?
Thanks for your input in advance,
Cheers,

Hey!
There was a small update to the translation source[1] that needs to be
reflected across the other language versions (I've already updated the
language sources, so you should just have to translate what's in
English on that page).
A few people have asked what the "Special" section means and if that
should be translated. What it is is that you update it with the
information specific to your language. For example, French is mostly
spoken in France, so they might want the default currency to EUR/€.
Also, for things like the "Jimmy quote" that was used last year[2] we
will need to use "quotes". Some languages do not use the standard
English quotes, so we would like to support them. To go again with
the French example, we would mark that they use « for the left quotes
and » for the right quote.
You also have the option of updating the default amounts. For
example, the defaults of "30", "75", and "100" would not work at all
for Yen/¥... it would be very strange to see that. :-)
Thanks for all your hard work so far in translating the fundraiser
items! Sorry about the small change to the source! :-(

The CentralNotices are now live on all the projects (including sister
projects). To make this possible, we had to change translations of
"Wikipedia" to "{{SITENAME}}". Some languages (like ru/uk), will need
more changes in order to have accurate grammar. If your language is
one of these, please respond to this e-mail.
In your response, we will need to know what the text will be for each
sister project. For example, on uk, the text for Вікіпедія
(Wikipedia) had to be "Вікіпедію", but all the others stayed the same
-- they would send us that information.

We're ready to translate the other fundraising pages. Casey, can we get
them set up one at a time with the same language order? Hindi can
probably go down to Class 3, I think.

This goes especially for you translators. :-)
If it turns out the translation does not fix the context, there are
any errors, or any missing strings... feel free to drop me an e-mail
or leave a message for one of us at:

Subject: [Foundation-l] Please help debug new fundraising pages
To: Wikimedia Foundation Mailing List <foundation-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
If all goes well, we will begin publicizing our annual campaign for
2008-2009 tomorrow, using sitenotices, a press release, etc. (Yes,
we're aware of that little election happening at the same time - it's
not entirely unwelcome.) We've just taken the new donation front-end
live here:
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Donate
(and related links.)
You can also test our initial batch of site-notices here:
http://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
(If you're logged in, you may have to reset your interface language.
The notice should reflect the existing translations.) Click "random
page" a few times to see the different notices. If you give, the
thermometer should update within 10 minutes or so.
Please report any issues on-list or off-list to <rmontoya at wikimedia
dot org>. When reporting issues, please make sure you tell us your
browser configuration and operating system.
Known issues to be addressed over the coming days and weeks, not in this order:
1. Translation of non-Core pages to more languages.
2. Longer, searchable Live Comments features
3. Set minimum donation script for $1 (or equivalent)
4. Next set of 3 or 4 site notices
5. Enable wiki-specific site notices for other wiki projects. i.e. The
site notice for Wikibooks would read "Wikibooks is a non-profit project:
Donate today."
6. Re-launch the donations page with the Chapter related giving options
(http://dev.donate.wikimedia.org/index.php/Donate/Now2/en).
7. Rupees as a currency.
8. Re-work the Stories page for translating.
9. Take live the new "Thank you" page shown after donations (
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Donate/Thank_You )
Thanks to the fundraising & tech teams for all their work on this so far. :-)
