Greetings,

Two weeks ago, I moved some of the items to this week's newsletter due
to the pause in software changes. I also moved the existing
translations, so you'll see that some languages already have
translations. Please check that they were moved properly.
I'm planning to send the newsletter on Monday afternoon (UTC), i.e. Monday
morning PST. The existing translations will be posted on the wikis in that
language.
There may be a few more edits by tomorrow (Friday), but the existing content
should generally remain fairly stable. I'll let you know tomorrow in any case.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. As always, I
appreciate your help and feedback.
Thanks!

Dear Chinese translators,
The Wikimedia Foundation will be running a fundraising campaign in China
and Hong Kong this year. In order to prepare for the campaign, we would
highly appreciate your help to translate banner messages from English to
simplified Chinese (for mainland China) and traditional Chinese (for Hong
Kong).
To translate into *simplified Chinese*, please click on the following link.

For *traditional Chinese*, please click this link.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
A warm THANK YOU for your help.

Dear translators,
Happy new year! I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2015.
With a new year comes a new international fundraising campaign. We would
highly appreciate your help to translate fundraising messages into your
language(s).
A large part of the messages on this page is similar to the one we used in
2014. Some translations can therefore be copied and pasted from the 2014
translations
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&action=trans…>
.
*To start translating, click on this link
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&action=trans…>
and choose your language in the scroll down menu. *
You can find a full list of texts that need translating on the Fundraising
translation hub <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/Translation>.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you once again for your valuable support.
Best wishes for the new year,
Jessica Robell

Cute, language issues win the laurel of complexity requiring animation?

We'd certainly love to know that as well (although the video cost only
few thousands euro). We only have collateral metrics i.e. page
description visits, as usual.

And the first by usages in articles is probably
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Second_world_war_europe_animation_s…
Still less than EC-EU-enlargement animation.gif perhaps? Peace prevails. ;-)

Hello,
Just a quick note to let you know that there isn't going to be a technical
newsletter today, because there was very little to write.
The newsletter will resume its usual schedule at the end of the week.
Thank you, and happy new year if you celebrate it!
