Greetings,
The latest tech newsletter is ready for early translation: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Tech/News/2013/27
We're planning to send the newsletter around 18:00 UTC tomorrow. The translations that are complete or mostly complete will be posted on the wikis in that language.
Unfortunately, we were not able to prepare the newsletter earlier this week, due to other tasks. We would welcome help from other editors to write the next newsletters, so that the content can be ready for translation earlier. If you would like to help, please contact me.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. I appreciate your help and feedback.
Note: These two templates appear on the page and need to be translated separately (if translations aren't already done): https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Tech_header https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Tech_news_nav

Hi guys, I would like to second Guillaume here and apologise for not preparing the bulk part of the newsletter earlier, just as we did it last week — on my part, I just lacked the motivation to sit down and review Bugzilla and Gerrit before today.
The current issue is a bit longer than usual since there have been many changes in VisualEditor recently, in preparation for its deployment on the English Wikipedia next week. I hope you'll be able to translate the newsletter into your language as always; of course, we can delay sending it out by an hour (or so) if need be.
If anyone would like to join myself and Guillaume in contributing to next issues of the newsletter, please don't hesitate and speak up (or just go ahead and add stuff without informing anyone :-)
Thank you all for the amazing work you're doing, I appreciate it greatly.

I want to give a big compliment for the Tech news summary initiative. It's even useful to me, and I'm involved full time in Wikimedia tech.
I've just translated the tech news summary into Dutch. It took me about 40 minutes for the first version. That was including to minor edits to the source page, and a reply to an immediate thanks about those fixes by odder on my talk page. I think it's doable in half an hour when not distracted.
I'm also very impressed by the level of care that appears to be given to the tagging by Guillaume. Using tvar where possible, no unnecessary markup. I was outright exited to see that the VisualEditor documentation was created on medwiki.org and can be translated. Very different from previous experiences where English Wikipedia had great documentation and other wikis had to go on a quest for it. Kudos again go to Guillaume -- I hope you're doing knowledge transfer! (organise a hangout session? I'm game!)
I'm so looking forward to us getting access to machine translation engines of internet giants A, B and C, which will make it even easier to deliver quick and accurate translations for many of our non-English speaking communities. DISCLAIMER: Wikimedia is not yet in contact with internet giants A, B and C about this, so if you are in [ABC], don't hesitate to contact me and we can make it happen even sooner than I'm hoping for.
Stay tuned for more news on the translation features front. We're aiming for creating an awesome tool for the translation of main namespace pages of Wikipedias once we're done with deploying UniversalLanguageSelector on the Wikimedia Language Engineering team.
Rock on!

Thanks :) That's great to hear.

To be fair, credit must be shared with Tomasz / odder, who often does this as well. He's the one who marked the latest issue for translation :)

Anything that can make the work of translators easier will be much welcome. Thank you!

Thank you so much to all the contributors who translated the newsletter!
We're going to delay the publication a little because there was a date error in one of the paragraphs.
If you have the opportunity, please update the following message: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=pag...
It's a simple number change (July 1 needs to be replaced by July 8) so I hope this isn't too big a request. We'll send the newsletter around noon UTC on Monday to give you time to fix this.
Thanks again, and my apologies for the error.
