Well, no. The issue is precisely that it first needs
to be translated in english... that would be much
easier for all other translations :-(
I am not sure we have many english translators on the
list...

Hi,
as many of you probably know we had a donation from Kennisnet to create
the Ultimate Wiktionary. This is the first time there is going to be a
press release about the Ultimate Wiktonary of course including also
other issues relevant to our donator and communities. It is going to be
sent to the ANP - the Dutch version of ANSA (Italy), DPA (Germany) - so
this means the National Agency where press releases are sent to to be
distributed to all interested parties (TV and radio stations,
newpspapers etc.).
We would like to send the press release to the other National stations
as well - obviously already translated.
We will have a few days to have the translation done and I would like to
prepare this small but really important multilingual project now in
order to do everything step by step.
I also created a page on meta here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_of_press_releases
I would kindly ask you to contact me by e-mail or answer to this list
and tell me who would like to do the translation and/or proof reading
and for which language.
I am adding my name for German (translation/proofreading), Italian
(translation - proofreader needed).
It would be good to have more than one person for one language since
sometimes it could occur that someone of us does not have time.
I'll then create a page on meta where I insert the organisation scheme.
Thank you for your attention and help
And: I think we can use this small exercise for all the press-releases
that will need translation during Wikimania.
Ciao, Sabine

Thread summary for translators-l
----
This thread comes from quarto-l.
Cormac offered to care for mail distribution of Quarto and related mails.
He prepared the first newsletter by mail, which reports the WQ2 publification.
Draft is now on meta
(http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:WQ#Publicising_Quarto_by_html_email)
It should contain announcement in several languages: de, en, es, fr,
it, ja, zh (an idea).
And now we are calling for translators!

I send a carbon copy of this mail to translators-l.
Sabine, could you help us to translate it into Italian?
I would like a Zh Wikipedian to help us, too. yuanml at pku.org.cn or
other Wikipedian.
There are many francophones on translators-l, and I expect you help us ;-)

Hello all,
The third Wikimedia Quarto is coming out next month, and we need your
input. Please submit ideas and short (1 paragraph) abstracts to
newsletter--at--wikimedia.org over the coming week. Or you can start
writing your submission on the draft page on meta:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WQ/Draft
Translators: Please distribute this note to your local projects. See also
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_requests/WQ/2/Release_message
When you submit an abstract, you will get feedback about how long to
make the piece, and for what deadline. General timeline:
* Short abstracts of submissions : by Friday, April 1
* Draft submissions : by Friday, April 8
* Translations start : April 18
Don't forget to submit memories of Wikipedias past for the special Retro report!
You can see the first two editions of the Quarto on the foundation site:
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Quarto
As always, feedback and design ideas are welcome. If you're
interested in working on production of this and future Quartos, see

Hi, normally I copy and paste myself as many translations as I can find
on a wish ... but I have a real problem here: my laptop is giving up ...
it overheats more and more frequently and I just made it to transfer my
due to delivery work to my other computer (where working is ... ehmmm
...) - so I am late with everything.
Now tomorrow is Easter - and of course I'd like to complete "Happy
Easter" and send it to as many firends/customers/people I know as
possible - and of course to the "word of the day"-list as well (they are
waiting for some days for their word of the day now, but I must do
urgent things first. This is one of those unique occasions when you
really can indirectly make "marketing".
So please could you go here and add your Easter wishes?
http://it.wiktionary.org/wiki/Buona_Pasqua%21
we already have: fi, fur, en, de, scn
Just klick on "modifica", add your language code and the translation.
And thanks to all who helped me with the Happy New Year!
Please!!!!!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sabine
p.s. if there's another place where this can be posted: just do it :-)
( Cc:ing wikipedia-l, since it is important to have broad community feedback.
Also the translators list, because the sidebar of the open-questions
page should be translated. )
That's a great page of questions, Angela. It is a *long* page, but I
hope many people will chime in with their thoughts, particularly
people who do not usually contribute their ideas on meta.
Let me add that our community has an untapped depth of talent in
fields where we currently "need" skilled help. I hope that we work to
find better ways to ask our community of active editors and readers
for help, before deciding that any particular problem cannot be solved
through distributed effort and broad collaboration.

_ _ :-------.-.--------.--.--------.-.--------.--.--------[...]
As many of you might know I have an Italian mailing list where I send in
a word a day together with related links - this not only to promote
wiktionary, but the wikimedia projects in general.
This includes links to wikipedia, commons, wikibooks (always if I find
ressources that are available or if someone tells me). Yesterday Saturn
for example was also linked to the pictures on commons.
Now to day we have Palm Sunday for many people in the world, in two
weeks this recurrence is for the orthodox church - and of course
whenever there are special days I try to send in the translation of just
this day.
So starting from the English wikipedia I added translations to the
article - searched for the French version with google etc. and added the
Italian and German Pronunciation.
The result is here:
http://it.wiktionary.org/wiki/Domenica_delle_Palme
What I would like to ask you now is to check, if the copied and pasted
names are really correct, add pronuciation-files to meta and link it
here (or just tell me how the file on meta is called - I can then link it).
If you have languages to add, please do so - at this moment there is
:*cs: Květná neděle
:*de: Palmsonntag m

:*en: Palm Sunday
:*fi: palmusunnuntai
:*fr: dimanche des Palmes
:*nl: Palmzondag, Palmpasen, Passiezondag
:*no: Palmesøndag
:*pl: Niedziela palmowa
And who is worrying about the user interface: if you are logged in you
can set the language of the ui by clicking on "preferenze" in the line
where your user name is and set it to the desired language. If you don't
want to do this, just klick on "modifica" when you have the Italian user
face.
If someone is worrying that he/she doesn't know the language name in
Italian to insert the translation: no problem - just insert the language
code like shown above (e.g. de for German) - when you save your
changes the language name will show up.
I'll send another mail today referring to Persian New Year, so please be
patient :-) It's a special day and the word of the day list today will
receive two words of the day.
Thanks!
Ciao, Sabine
