Hello friends! Community Tech wants to post an invitation to participate in
the survey[1] to various Village Pumps, community portals, etc., across a
wide number of wikis. The proposal phase ends on 11 November so we're
hoping to send this out soon. Translations are especially important this
year because our focus is to help the smaller communities.
If you have the time, any help translating the invitation would be greatly
appreciated! Please see

Thank you!

Hey everyone,
I’m Johanna from Wikimedia Germany’s Technical Wishes team. We’re soon
releasing ReferencePreviews as a new beta feature to many wikis, and I plan
to announce this on village pumps beforehand. It would be great if you
could translate it into your language:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Johanna_Strodt_(WMDE)/ReferencePreview…
ReferencePreviews show previews of footnotes in the article text. This way,
you don’t have to jump down to the bottom of a page to look up a footnote. The
feature has been in the beta phase on German and Arabic Wikipedia for some
months, and it will now become a beta feature on all Wikipedias and a few
Wikivoyages. If you'd like to know more, please visit the project page:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WMDE_Technical_Wishes/ReferencePreviews
Deadline for translations is October 21st, 7 am UTC. The announcement will
be sent out that same day around 11 am UTC.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help and your time! It is deeply
appreciated.
Johanna, for the Technical Wishes Project at Wikimedia Germany

Hello translators,
I wish to request a translation of one sentence from English to Amharic
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amharic> at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Pine/WMYHTW_translations. I don't
think that I personally know any Wikimedians who can translate into
Amharic, and Amharic Wikipedia appears to have a low level of activity, so
I am sending a message to this mailing list in addition to contacting a few
users who have recently made contributions to Amharic Wikipedia with the
hope that one person will contribute an Amharic translation in the next few
days.
Thank you very much for what you do.

Hi all,
We're planning wider announcements and requests for feedback about the new
Desktop Improvements project, and it would be greatly appreciated if you
could help out by translating these 2 pages, which are the massmessage and
the main docs:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Reading/Web/Desktop_Improvements/Outreachhttps://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Reading/Web/Desktop_Improvements
It's about a project to make Wikimedia wikis more welcoming to new readers
and new editors while not disrupting the workflows of our most active
community members.
We're planning to send the message either later this week, or next week,
depending on how many translations are ready. I might also split it into
batches, in order to spread out the quantity of feedback coming in at once.
Thanks a lot for everything you do, as always!
