Hello :),
My name is Andrew, I am a new Digital Communications Intern on the
Communications team at Wikimedia Foundation. I help edit and publish for
our Wikimedia blog, produce digital media, and help with other general
communications tasks.
We have a short paragraph that needs to be translated:
*" Did you know that you can now share facts as images from the Wikipedia
app? Start by selecting text in any Wikipedia article. Then select share
and the app creates an image with the text using the top image from the
Wikipedia article as a background. "*
This short script will become captions for a video to be released later
this week.
Here are a few languages we would like help translating to: Russian
Spanish, French, Arabic, German, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese.
Any other languages are welcome and appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email. Thank you in advance for
all your help and support.
Best,
--

During the messaging to 2.8 million accounts begin affected by SUL
finalization, about 10,000 accounts across the wikis, mainly Commons, were
incorrectly notified about their account needing to be renamed. This
message is for those accounts, and it needs to be delivered as soon as
possible.

I appreciate all of your help, my apologies on behalf of the bot.

Greetings,
The latest tech newsletter is ready for early translation:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/2015/14
Direct translation link:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-T…
I'm planning to send the newsletter on Monday afternoon (UTC), i.e. Monday
morning PST. The existing translations will be posted on the wikis in that
language.
There will be a few more edits by tomorrow (Friday), but the existing
content should generally remain fairly stable. I'll let you know tomorrow
in any case.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. As always, I
appreciate your help and feedback.
Thanks!

Hello all,
As some of you may be aware I'm contacting 2.8 million accounts that may be
renamed for SUL finalization. Thank you to those that helped translate that
announcement.
We're halfway done, and I have added a line to the text for clarity. The
entire text of the announcement is slightly broken on meta now, so I made a
page with this one line for translation:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Keegan_(WMF)/Quicktranslate
Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm having trouble finding assistance with zh translations. I've asked
a few of the users listed in m:Category:Translators_eng-zho, as well as my
usual contact at zhwiki, over the last week, but haven't had much luck (one
editor did translate a few strings, which I appreciate).
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Quiddity_%28WMF%29/Hovercards_trial
is the page that needs translation.
The Hovercards feature is going to be turned on for all users (including
non-registered) at the Chinese, Greek, and Catalan Wikipedias (per previous
requests/discussions at those wikis), hopefully in early-April, and we need
to get this documentation ready to go out.
Could anyone here help me to find a willing translator, or suggest
alternative methods for reaching out?
Much thanks.

Hello, everyone. I have a translation request:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/VisualEditor/Survey_2015
Direct translation link:
https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Vi…
This is a survey that will be sent to hundreds of people across multiple
wikis. The first non-English requests will probably be sent early next
week. Even partial translations would be helpful.
The survey will be offered online and via Qualtrics. I think that
Qualtrics might be the more popular approach. if you would like me to
enter your translations directly into the Qualtrics survey, then please let
me know that it's okay with you.
THANK YOU!
