To all the hard-working volunteers on translators-l:
As you probably know, the Wikimedia Foundation has recently begun a year-long strategic planning process. The eventual outcome will be a five year strategic plan for the Foundation, and a broader vision plan for the movement. This project has been identified as one of our highest priorities for the next year, and support staff has been hired to deal exclusively with strategic planning (myself and Eugene Kim).
Today we "soft-launched" a new wiki-workspace, http://strategy.wikimedia.org .
The convenors of this process, at the direction of the Foundation, have committed to a multi-lingual, inclusive, and multi-cultural project. Because of this, I'm certain that there will be a relatively high level of activity for translators. Among other things, we'll be accepting proposals in native languages, and encouraging dialogue in native languages in order to get the broadest possible participation.
To begin with, though, we need your help translating the strategy wiki.
The following pages are ready for translation:
http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Rules_of_Engagement http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Purpose_and_Principles http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deliverables http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Process http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Key_Questions http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/IRC_Office_Hours http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Call_for_Proposals (note that there are some special instructions within this one) http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Proposals http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Basic_questions
Please know how much we appreciate your work. If there's anything Eugene or I can do to support you, please don't hesitate to let me know by return email.
