Please translate: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/Server_switch_2017 You may remember that the Technology department did a major test in April 2016 to see how well they could recover from a major disaster. During this test, it was not possible to edit Wikipedia or any of the other WMF wikis for about 30 minutes on two days. They are repeating this exercise this year. This will affect editors and contributors around the world, at Wikipedias, Wiktionaries, Wikivoyages, Commons, and other WMF sites. Please translate the main announcement into as many languages as possible. Last year, we had complete translations into about 40 languages, and partial translations into a couple of other languages. This should be a relatively quick translation job. The main change from last year is the dates and times. I have just checked (by creating part of the German translation), and about 60% of the sentences are identical to last year and stored in translation memory. Also: The time is listed in one sentence with a link to a page that will convert UTC to your own timezone, plus a long list of timezones that are common for editors. If you are translating to a language that is mostly spoken in one region, please feel free to skip the less relevant time zones, and to add specifically relevant ones. Most German speakers don't need to know the Japanese timezone, and vice versa. It's good to put the CEST time in the German translation, and the JST time in the Japanese translation. Quick reminder about this: We have translations started in about 19 languages. Last year, we achieved 40. We currently have completed translations in the system for these language codes: ar, bn, cs, de, es, fi, fr, it, ja, ko, pl, pt-br, ru, uk, and zh. Several other languages have been started. This should be quick to translate (more than half can be copied from last year's), so please take a look at it and make sure that your favorite language is represented. This message will probably be sent to 600+ wikis (more than 200 languages) around Thursday, 13 April. The translations may also be posted on the official WMF blog the following week. Please translate the main announcement into as many languages as possible. Last year, we had complete translations into about 40 languages, and partial translations into a couple of other languages. This should be a relatively quick translation job. The main change from last year is the dates and times. I have just checked (by creating part of the German translation), and about 60% of the sentences are identical to last year and stored in translation memory.
