Hi, The forwarded mail was posted originally to foundation-l.
As said, we need those who select good quotes in their language - currently we almost picked up English quotes only for the international version, while I added some from the first day quote.
Please visit http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2007/comments dated subpage (e.g. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2007/comments/2007-10-23) and make the good quotes from your eyes bold. Later we'll be able to copy to the banner setting ... also if someone separate English ones and other languages, even if not by lang completely, it would be a great help (and kudos to Casey who did it for some early days quotes)
Cheers,

Dear Madams and Sirs, I would like to suggest that the Centralnotice gets a link to http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2007/Text_for_sitenotice from the untranslated form, since it can't be translated locally and not everyone knows of the possibility to translate it on Meta.
Good point. We saw the main messsage translated, but some parts - -counter and -donate in most cases - undone. If "donate now" and "... have donated" are localized too, it would be a great help.
Furthermore I would like to express my regret, that lots of "MediaWiki:Centralnotice-meter/xx" are not created even though translated. (this notice is shown, if the sitenotice is minimized)
Eh, I have been saddened many centralnotice-meter/xx translations left and not to reflect the bar at last, but thought it was only for the previous version and now no room for the newer banner ... but you are right, the bar will be available if you "hide" the big banner. Thank you for bringing it up. It seems a image-handling-savvy hands to finalize the tasks (create an image using the -meter by langauge) and hand it to devs. Can anyone please help it out?
In my humble opinion speaking to people in their own language is a better approach.
Yes.
If it is not possible to create all those graphics due to technical problems, I think we should provide something different than the current meter, e.g. making a graphic without text, or having the text on the right or left of it.
Another concern is donors' quote. Non-English quotes from the beginning of this donation seem not to be featured, unless I am confused. And there are good quotes not only in English language also ...
What we need is more people who speak the languages to select the good ones from the dates pages. If there are any more good quotes on the "Dates" pages, please do not hesitate to bold them and they will be get added to the sitenotice.
You can create your favorite language version, MediaWiki:Centralnotice-quotes/xx from quotes in Fundraising 2007/comments and its subpages by date. We have tried to create special versions for Chinese and Japanese respectively, and it doesn't seem to harm in my humble opinion ...
Cary can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the ones for Chinese and Japanese are just because those languages do not show up in most browsers. We should try to keep all other language versions on the same page, I think.
Cheers,
We are supporting many languages and in my opinion we should reflect that also in the actual Fundraiser.
Thank You, best regards,
Elisabeth Anderl (aka spacebirdy)
