Subject: [Foundation-l] Fundraising update
To: Wikimedia Foundation Mailing List <foundation-l(a)wikimedia.org>
Hello:
Well, after some bumps we have the fundraiser off and running! There
was a bug in currency conversion reporting when we got started, but
everything has been tested and verified, and now the thermometer is
exactly right. The good news is that the currency issue caused the
thermometer to *underreport* what was donated in the first day of the
fundraiser. Our donation history is available on
http://fundraising.wikimedia.org.
We also have our default site notice revised and in need of
translation. Please see
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_request/WMF/Fundraising_Sitenoti….
We will go live with the new and improved sitenotice after we get some
translations put together.
Stay tuned!
-Brad

Hello there,
Regretfully I would like you to notice some versions of
[[Wikimedia:Board of Trustees]] are now turned into redirect to the
English version due to the recent expansion of the Board (and lack of
the stable version, even in English for now).
The pages mentioned are:
# [[Wikimedia:]]
# [[Wikimedia:Bestuur]]
# [[Wikimedia:Conseil d'administration]]
# [[Wikimedia:Consejo de Administracin]]
I touched Italian version slightly ... hopefully I made no hurt.
There are now seven Board members, but according to the documents
mentioned on the above, five. And one of five stepped down yesterday.
Three new faces were mentioned there. I am very regretful by myself,
but hope it will be a way to prevent further confusion.
For fast remedy, you may add three names to the list on the top and
later put their description. Tim Shell will be moved to the section at
the bottom, "previous members" due to his resignation.
The new English version is coming soon, expectantly. Jan-Bart, one of
new board members proofread the meta version and nodded, for your
information. Unless other board member stops us explicitly, we'll open
this request in the early of the next week.
Cheers,

Hi all,
thank you for your help on fundraising. I would like to bring up
another issue again, though (just refreshment ;)
We have now laywer-reviewed disclaimer for non official condition of
policy in non English. For your sake, many translated documents are
now remarked with that in their own language. Some other language
documents still lack it though, they are already remarked the same
thing in a different way. Thanks always, and I expect those documents
are also remarked with the approved disclaimer in days with your help.
In details the documents which need this disclaimer are:
*[[Wikimedia:Politica relativa alla privacy]] it
*[[Wikimedia:Privacybeleid]] nl (translation is underway)
*[[Wikimedia:Política de privacidade]] pt
*[[Wikimedia:Politika zasebnosti]] sl?
*[[Wikimedia:隐私政策]] zh
In addition to that, it would be nice the meta (old) versions are also
tagged with it, even it is clear those versions are now obsolated.
Translation is requested at
Translation requests/WMF/disclaimer
Cheers,

Perhaps most of you have read it but ...
thank you for your help always; and see you later, now it is 0:58 am
for me (as the quoted header shows you) and I need to take a sleep.
People around the Atrantic will be the best contact for your urgent
need, at least in some hours.

Subject: [Foundation-l] fundraising: call for help (URGENT)
To: foundation-l(a)wikimedia.org
Hello
As roughly announced last week, the fundraiser will start *tomorrow*.
A bunch of things still need to be fixed, and in particular, WE NEED
HELP to translate the fundraising page.
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/User:DavidStrauss/Fundraising
We need it at minimum for tomorrow in english, german, french, spanish,
swedish, japanese, italian, dutch...
Please help us with the translation.
The page in on Foundation because it requires html (will not work on
meta) and is using rather complex templates. If you need help and more
generally, please contact Danny (dwool ATTTT wikimedia.org).
These are the most urgent languages, others are welcome as well of
course. Please coordinate either with Danny or with Aphaia and transcom.
Thank you for your help
Anthere

a small typo crept into
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Portada
Where it says
Carta del fundador – más recientes palabras de Jimmy Wales, neustro fundador.
should be
Carta del fundador – más recientes palabras de Jimmy Wales, nuestro fundador.
(neustro -> nuestro)

Just wanted to thank all the people from all the different languages who
came together to make this happen and did a great job too.
We have
German, French, Spanish, 2 Norwegians, Czech, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish,
and Dutch, and I am assured that Turkish is on its way.
It would be great to see some of the other languages, large and small.
Danny
Hello,
thank you for your cooperation always,
also offering help on management sphere.
It is a nice idea to have Board resolution translations as French
editors do, and a good attempt to make a request as [[m:Translation
requests/Resolution:Board expansion]]. However regretfully I closed
this request just before unless it confuses the order of priorities.
It is properly placed on [[m:Translation requests]] but on the
automatically creating list on [[m:Translations]], it is not
completely unclear. Also it is very visible being linked from
Going-on, and many language editors tackled it besides requests in
much higher priority and in urgent (yes, some translation has its
deadline in today or tomorrow). In my opinion outdated information is
in higher priority to be uploaded thus translated than significant but
not wrongly represented information. Also the information the Board
designated us Transcom requests in the highest priorities. And now we
have multiple requests related to the Foundation - so sort of
priorities is necessary, in responsible of ours, Transcom.
We need
- "Give the gift of knowledge" translation
- information about the new Board (Board of Trustees; only Japanese
version mentions the new construction besides the English original.)
- newly revised [[About Wikimedia]]
As for the latter two, before fundraising, I am planning to turn the
outdated versions into reedirect. We are better to avoid misleading
the visitors in feeding them wrong, outdated information. And during
the fundraising the number of visitors are dramatically increasing in
past experiences.
So I decided to close this translation request for a while, until
things in urgent is fixed and uploaded to the foundation website.
Hopefully we will be able to reopen soon with your translators' always
help.
Cheers,

Hello,
there are now massive edits, but our concerns are not them yet, but
other stuff more stable ...
- Disclaimer.
Now all translation of Privacy policy on the website has a
disclaimer. Except Japanese, they are redirects to English ones
[[Template:Disclaimer for translation]]. In Anthere's opinion, this
request is in the highest priority. Your help will be appreciated.
- OurProject template on the Foundation website home.
Some were updated. We are still wait for some translation. I hereby
appreciate Hillgentleman for his effort to fix the Chinese translation
of "Wikiversity" properly. Requested languages are Fi, Pl, Pt, Ro,
Zh.
- WMF News. Two pieces of news. You may have known it already, but
your buddies may not. Thanks for Russian team and others who are
engaging now.
- Requested: Fr, Ja, Nl, Es, Zh ...

Coming requests will include

- New [[Board of Trustees]]
- Renewed [[About Wikimedia]]
Also, The Foundation website Home was drastically updated (on the
Board related matters). If you have a time, please consider to update
your language version home too.
Cheers,
And if you have still time and would like to kill time in this weekend
... there are also
