Hi,
as last month, translations are wanted for the new edition of the monthly "Wikimedia Highlights", consisting of the most relevant information from the Foundation's general and technical monthly reports for October, with a short selection of other important news from the Wikimedia movement. Please consider helping non-English-language Wikimedia communities to stay updated on the most important WMF activities, MediaWiki development work and other international news from the past month, by providing a translation at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Highlights,_October_2011
With the help of Siebrand, we are trying out the new Translation extension on Meta for this issue; see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation/Introduction for instructions. Per last month's discussion on this list, I am not going to attempt to list priority languages - all translations are welcome! - , but for example a translation into Arabic would be especially useful this month, because a significant part is about activities related to the Arabic Wikipedia.
For Arabic, Danish, French, German, Italian and Japanese, it will be useful to compare the translations done last month (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Highlights,_September_2... ), as the "Data and Trends" and "Financials" sections contain a lot of recurring vocabulary.
As last month, it is planned to announce the translations (i.e. those which have been completed at that point) on the general Wikimedia announcements list Wikimediaannounce-l, on Wednesday November 16.
Many thanks!
