I'm not sure the proper procedure for this, but is there a way we could get
some volunteers to help translate the WIkimania scholarship page?

As English aptitude is critical for maximum benefit from the event, the
application is all in English. But we like to have the information page
available in multiple languages, so that people can be 100% clear on the
details of the program, and what they will be "judged" on.

If you're following foundation-l, you have probably noticed the big
discussion about Sue's recommendations to the board regarding funds
dissemination. The page that holds these recommendations is now being
requested for translation, so that it can be read by a larger portion of
the international community. It is most relevant for languages for which
related chapters will be affected by the recommendations, so if you speak a
relevant language your help is extra welcome.

Hello everyone,
I am pleased to announce the beginning of Steward Election 2012 [1]. We are
now taking nominations from eligible candidates. Interested candidates can
check their eligibility and procedure to submit the nomination on the
guidelines page [2]. We are open to candidate submissions till January 28,
2012, 23:59 (UTC). Questions to the candidates can be submitted until
February 6, 2012, 23:59 (UTC). Guidelines about questioning can also be
found on our guidelines page [2].
This time we are also arranging the confirmation of existing stewards [3].
But the confirmation will begin on February 8, and will finish on February
27, 2012.
Please remember, the voting has not yet begun and will be not until
February 8, 2012, 00:00 (UTC). We will poke you once again when the voting
start.
As you all know steward election is a global event, so we need help from
volunteers to translate necessary pages into languages they speak. For
those who want to help us out with translation, please see our translation
portal [4]. And if you have any queries related to translation or anything
related to the election, you can ask us on the talk page [5]. Alternatively
you are free to poke us on IRC channel #wikimedia-stewards-elections.
For those who are a little bit surprised to see another election in few
months, I want to let you know that previous one (in September-October of
2011) was a special one which we arranged in need. This is the regular one
to elect new stewards and to confirm existing ones.

As last month, translations are wanted for the new edition of the
monthly "Wikimedia Highlights", consisting of the most relevant
information from the Foundation's general and technical monthly
reports for December, with a short selection of other important news
from the Wikimedia movement. Please consider helping
non-English-language Wikimedia communities to stay updated on the most
important WMF activities, MediaWiki development work and other
international news from the past month, by providing a translation at

continuing to use for this issue with the help of Siebrand.
For Danish, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Vietnamese,
Finnish, German, and Russian, it will be useful to
compare the translations done in the last months into these languages,
as the "Data and Trends" and "Financials" sections contain a lot of
recurring vocabulary.
As in recent months, it is planned to announce the translations (i.e.
those which have been completed at that point) on the general
Wikimedia announcements list Wikimediaannounce-l, on Tuesday January
17. We may also post them as language-targeted updates of the official
Wikipedia Facebook account, which reaches a large audience.

Translators Without Borders and Wikipedia's Wikiproject Medicine would
like to announce a partnership to improve the free global access to
high quality health information. Wikipedia, as many are aware, is one
of the foremost health care information resources. It is freely usable
by all people globally and can be re-purposed or changed for other
uses as long as Wikipedia is acknowledged and the resulting product is
released under a license that allows the same. Wikipedia's 26,000
medical articles receive approximately 150-200 million page views a
month in English alone with some content available in over 280 other
languages. The top 300 medical articles receive more than 100,000 page
views a month[

and it is used extensively by both health care providers and the lay
public with between 50-70% of physicians using it in clinical
practice.
Availability of high quality content is however limited in many
languages. Even in English less than 1% of articles have passed a semi
formal peer review process. Our efforts are attempting to both improve
the English content and translation articles on humankind's 80 most
important health care conditions to as many other languages as
possible. This will be for many people the first time high quality
health information becomes available in their own language. We are
looking for people to both help us at Wikipedia improve articles in
English and people to help Translators Without Borders do translation.
We are also needing people with both language abilities and the
ability or desire to learn how to edit Wikipedia to integrate the
translated material back in the Wikipedia edition in question. This
project is just beginning and we are planning on caring it out over
