HI,
I need some help in setting up access control list for users. What i am
trying to implement is a bit more than what MediaWiki 1.5.3 supports.
Our company has a number of different business units, each of which wants to
have its own restricted area on the wiki that is only accessible by the
users in that specific business unit.
What i need to implement is as follows:
Groups - each group has a number of people in it ( this i have done)
Then i want to create pages that belong to a group and if the pages are
restricted then they are only visible to the members of the group and
restricted to other users.
I have managed to create namespaces for the differnet business units we have
and have done groups for each business unit. But i do not know how to
restrict pages of a name space to a certain group only???
Anyone done anything similar? or have any ideas of how i can implement this?
thanks
I want to begin archiving some web content into the wiki - under
tutorials, articles, et al.
I wonder if someone has a means by which to take the downloaded
images/code (strip ads, and unwanted garbage) and convert it to
MediaWiki format... then store it in the designated location.
We are using Mediawiki 1.5.1 to organize documentation for our department.
The problem is that we cannot get Mediawiki to allow html files to be
uploaded. I have enabled doc extentioons and that works. I have the
following line in my LocalSettings.php
$wgFileExtensions = array( 'png', 'gif', 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'doc', 'pdf', 'html'
);
This allows all the above mentioned extentions to be uploaded, but for
whatever reason Mediawiki continues to reject .html files. The error says
the file does not appear to be an image. Why can't we upload an html file,
even though the extention is configured to be allowed? Thanks!!
Hi,
I guess the $wgDebugLogGroups array could help me filter the wfDebug
messages, but I haven't got any idea how to set it.
Can someone tell me what to put in the array, and what to put in the
pages to have the messages directed to a special log file.
Thanks a lot
François
Perhaps an answer a little less blunt!

defaultsettings file.

- In the documentation folder the database schema is outlined,
if in doubt look at the database.

People are much more willing to help when it can be seen that you have
made some effort yourself; if you want to use this software it is
worthwhile looking around the documentation and understanding how it
works.

I am trying to merge user data between IPB 1.3.1 and MediaWiki 1.5. However,
there are a couple things that I need to know.
1. How can I change the name of the session cookie used in MediaWiki.
2. Is there anywhere (like in the database) that MediaWiki stores the
session information for each user?
3. Where can I make edits to force MediaWiki to add info to another database
also when registering a user? (if necessary, I can move the tables to the
MediaWiki database, but I need to know how to make MediaWiki add info to
another table)
There might be more that I need to know, but that is all for now.
Thank you, shardsofmetal
Hi everyone,
I received one message in my User_talk page. So, as usual I was noticed by
an orange message in front of my content area.
I've check out my User_talk, but the orange message still persists.
Is there some change I have to do in order to this message disappears?
Thanks a lot, mauro.

Hi,
I have tried to change the user_password value for a user_name value of a particular user using PHP md5("password_value") function. But, it does not work.
I have also tried to use a 2-step process:
1: $p = md5( $password);
2: return md5( "{$userid}-{$p}" ); # to get the hashed password
The hashed password value does not match with the value in MySql user table.
The value of $password = "123qweA" and the user.user_password table value is fce34f65fd0acb4c716bc2305e47f7c2
While the value I derive using above 1 and 2 lines is 8021331ef9a813b4713630fb1c3ca0fc using $userid = "pvarma"
What should I do to change a user's password outside the MediaWiki web interface please?
Thank you,
Piyush
The data is all stored in your database; simple use your usual database
management app to view the data.

Subject: [Mediawiki-l] How do i access my raw data if I can't move my
wiki?
Hi, I created about a dozen wikis to use as:
- draft websites
- info storage
After doing a big delete-the c drive-and-start-over, I've found it too
difficult atm to transfer the files to a new set of wikis.
But there's certain data I really need from the old files.
Does anyone know how i can read the raw data in my old wikis?
Really appreciate the help cos this data is quite important to me!
Thanks.
