Hello everyone,
I was careless enough to run a MediaWiki installation allowing people to
sign up without a moderator's approval. Hence a few hundred of them did
sign up and started to use the site to swap images.
How can I delete their accounts in the most expeditious way?
Thanks.
Boris.
I'm wondering if there has been any suggestion to set up a template
sharing area in Mediawiki, or all Mediawiki based sites similar to
instant commons. I have noticed that there are a LOT of us , me included
that use the templates from other sites. I certainly don't have the
skill to write them myself so I usually just copy & paste them. However
if they are upgraded by the authors, I don't usually get the updates. It
seems this would be especially helpful to those maintaining translated
sites. I realize this would not work for all templates as it doesn't for
all media in commons. I use some original media & some from instant
commons. Template sharing should work just as easily, & it would assist
in growing Wikipedia more quickly.
Any thoughts??
Dear Media Wiki Community,
First I would like to say sorry if I wrongly ask help by this way. I am
having a problem related to importing abstract.xml which is dumped data
from http://my.wikipedia.org . I am getting the error of "Import failed:
Expected <mediawiki> tag, got feed ". I have no idea for that.
Second problem is importing a file named
mywiki-20120430-all-titles-in-ns0.gz which is situated on
http://dumps.wikimedia.org/mywiki/20120430/ . I am not sure which file type
it is and how I import.
Thank you so much.
Best Regards,
Ko Min
Is there a way to get a pages last updated timestamp from somewhere
other than the page itself?
I'd like to build a page which will be a table of certain wiki pages I
keep an eye on, and the timestamp for that pages last update? The
{{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}} magic word only seems to give you the last update
for the page that you're viewing.

Hello all,
We have created a new user group.
Should this new user group has default minimum rights or has this new user group no right defined at all and they have to be defined ?
Is there a sort of cascade of rights : an anonymous become "user autoconfirmed", and then "user emailconfirmed" with default rights of "user" group: edit, move, etc ... A user defined as belonging to a "incubators" group by administrator in "user right management" page (in special page), will have "user" group rights + "incubators" rights ?
As a result, the right "move" from a namespace-one to an other namespace-two, is not allowed to the user who became "incubators", when "incubators" group has the right to "play" in the namespace.
We did this creation of new user group across the definition of a new custom namespace:
$wgNamespaceProtection[NS_INCUB] = array( 'incub-edit' ); # right 'incub-edit" is required to "play" in INCUB namespace
$wgGroupPermissions['incubators']['incub-edit'] = true; # "incubators" has "incub-edit" right which give the right to "play" in INCUB space

Hi All,
I recently updated from MW 1.115.4 to MW 1.17.1 and i started getting
"stylepath is not defined" window.ts_image_path = stylepath + '/common/images/'; wikibits.js?301 (line 586)
I can see "stylepath" defined in my page source for MW 1.15.4 but i don't see it in 1.17.1
Has anyone seen this error before and know the fix ?
Thanks for any help.

Hello
I am moving the wiki of our hackerspace from a shared hosting to a VPN.
I copied the entire www-root of the old server into the www-root of the
new server, and exported en imported the entire database.
Old wiki (in read-only mode): voidwarranties.be
New wiki: beta.voidwarranties.be
I get a page not found error on the homepage, and a more verbose error
when I click random page:
http://beta.voidwarranties.be/index.php/POSTPONED_-_Weekly_wednesday_july_2…
[1]
I ran the update.php script (as Joan recommended me on IRC), but no
result.
For example this page:
http://beta.voidwarranties.be/index.php/Special:RecentChanges works
fine, so the link to the db is ok.
I exported and imported the "page" table again to make sure it was
imported correctly, but no change.
To make sure all dependencies for a wiki are met I installed a fresh
wiki here, and it runs as it should:
http://46.18.35.239/testwiki/index.php/Main_Page
Anyone any clue on how to solve this?
Ward
[1]:
The database did not find the text of a page that it should have found,
named "POSTPONED - Weekly wednesday july 2011" .
This is usually caused by following an outdated diff or history link to
a page that has been deleted.
If this is not the case, you may have found a bug in the software.

That's pretty heavy-handed.
Can you run it from a workgroup server, or even your boss's desktop machine? Or does IT have the keys to ALL the computers?
I'd think a machine on your LAN would be adequately firewalled to make IT feel better about it.
> ... found semantic form extension and simpleform extension.
Those would be my choices.
See if your boss has enough "pull" to run a well-firewalled "development" server on your LAN for such things.

Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately, Collapsmi has the same issue as CollapseTest, and HeaderTabs isn't really what I want. I'd like to keep it all on the same page/tab, but with collapsible sections. CollapseText and/or Collapsmi are exactly what I'm looking for, but I need one of them to work correctly with Cite. :(

Hi,
I recently upgraded our wiki to mw-1.18.1. It uses a mysql database.
As part of our backup script I run the following command:
php /var/www/html/wikidir/maintenance/dumpBackup.php
--full > $DBDIR/mysqldb-contents-$DATE.xml
This gives the following error since the upgrade:
PHP Notice: Undefined property: BackupDumper::$revStartId in
/var/www/html/mediawiki-1.18.1/maintenance/backup.inc on line 213
2012-04-23 23:05:03: wikidb (ID 15586) 37 pages (461.9|461.9/sec
all|curr), 100 revs (1248.4|1248.3/sec all|curr), ETA 2012-04-23
23:05:03 [max 365]
<snip>
Then it proceeds with the backup.
How can I get rid of the Undefined property.
Thanks,
Tony
