$wgDBtransactions gets set to true if using InnoDB tables. Is there
an advantage to using InnoDB tables?
The disadvantage is that with MySQL there is a file, ibdata1, that
seems to grow endlessly if InnoDB tables are used. See

I want to moving all pages in a certain namespace (about 60 pages) into
the the "main" namespace. I couldn't find how to do this, so I tried
exporting the pages and importing them and I ran into all sorts of
problems. Is there a way to do what I want without using the import and
export features (and without having to move each of them manually)?
When I search after some terms, which have not been defined yet, or after editing an entry (but not always???), I get the following error message:
For query "sales"
Jump to: navigation, search
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "". MySQL returned error "1030: Got error 127 from storage engine (localhost)".
Has anybody had this error before? How may I fix it?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help and best regards,
P.S: I found a similar message at the The Wikitech-l Archives, but in my case no table name was written, so what shall I do????

I am building a web site for a family member who is in the process
of completing a PhD and MediaWiki looks like the ideal CMS to use
as they will be able to update their own web site (delegation is

1) There may be a need to have certain pages in multiple languages.
Is the best way to do this for a small site is to add a language
identifier to the page title eg:
here is the CV in English or in Dutch.
Is there a way to do this and still have a more readable title eg
"English CV" rathern than "CV.en"?
2) I see from the LocalSettings.php that it is possible to prevent
access to certain pages for users who are not logged in. Do I
need to list all the pages I want blocked or is it possible
to do wildcards eg internal*
The advice in the subject line is correct. Users should never be
deleted from the table for another reason; you leave a lot of messy
references to them lurking about which really does confuse the hell
out of the software.
MediaWiki does not support the deletion of users, and likely never will.
The topic of corporate intranet wikis seems to come up a lot.
Does anyone know of a wiki about corporate intranet wikis? Both
technical and social aspects.
Of course, Googling "corporate wiki" produces commercial wiki engine
sites and occasional news and blog posts ...
I wanted to try AJAX, so i switched it on in my MW 1.9.0:
$wgUseAjax = true;
$wgAjaxSearch = true;
$wgAjaxWatch = true;
Now, when I try to type the name of an article in the searchbox of my wiki, i
get an error-message-popup:
Error: 500 Internal Server Error
Parser::replaceInternalLinks: $this->mTitle is null
a quick search through the list archives didn't bring up a result so
please excuse me if this issue has been solved already.
I am currently using Mediawiki 1.9.2. and experienced problems uploading
Although my test image shows an 'image/png'-mimetype with 'file -i',
Mediawiki keeps saying the file was corrupted.
Monitoring /tmp/php* while uploading the image again shows the uploaded
file to be image/png, too:
while(usleep 1); do file -i /tmp/php*|grep -v "ERROR"; done
Mediawiki debug says
MimeMagic::detectMimeType: magic mime type of /tmp/phpcDoKKE:
amongst other things, so I guess MimeMagic isn't working correctly..
Searching the meta wiki gives me the hint to add
$wgMimeDetectorCommand = "/usr/bin/file -bi";
to LocalSettings.php as a workaround, which actually does the trick.
But still I wonder: What's the problem with MimeMagic?
I have two problems with functionality of "in other languages" box on my MW
server. I would like to point from my articles to related articles on
Wikipedia using standard interwikis. In this context I would like to:
1) Change the text from "in other languages" to something like "in other
2) My MW is localized as Czech (CS) and so when I add cs:something
interwiki to an article, it is hiding it from in other languages box. I would
like to switch off this language filtering.
Does anybody know how to solve point 1) or 2)?
Thanks in advance
