Hello,
I have been informed that this mailing list exists to discuss MediaWiki
separate from Wikipedia. Thank you to Angela for pointing this out.
So, I'll re-post my question here.
I'm trying to use the MediaWiki namespace on my new installation of
MediaWiki.
Unfortunately, {{msg:Blah}} is being replaced by nothing (i.e. it is
just being removed) even though [[MediaWiki:Blah]] does contain text.
What might the cause of this be?
Thanks for any help,
Timwi
Hi,
as stated before, the latest mediawiki Version still requires
"register_globals = on" as PHP setting..
I only have a short question: Is the avoidance of register_globals a
current development issue and is there any timetable when mediawiki will
be able to work without this option?
Bye & thanks
Thomas

Hello,
I submitted this as a "RFE" on Sourceforge, but
thought I would also ask the mailing list in case this
feature has already been developed.
Is there any code out there that allows MediaWiki to
support automatic e-mail notification when something
in a user's watchlist has changed?
Thank you for your assistance,
-Amy
Hi
I'm trying to get MediaWiki running on a Fedora 1 i686 box with
Fedora PHP 4.3.4, Fedore Apache 2.0.48 and MySQL 4.0.17 from
www.mysql.com.
At the moment I'm installing one site but if it goes well I might
want to install others on the same server.
I'm getting confused with the directories and the suggested
httpd.conf.
In LocalSettings.pm I have this:
$IP = "/var/www/wiki/wiki";
$wgServer = "http://wiki.example.com";
$wgScriptPath = "/wiki";
$wgArticlePath = "{$wgScript}?title=$1";
For httpd.conf I have (style and upload dirs left out to make it
shorter):
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName wiki.example.com
DocumentRoot "/var/www/wiki"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php4 .phtml
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
php_admin_flag engine off
<Directory "/var/www/wiki/wiki">
DirectoryIndex wiki.phtml
php_admin_flag engine on
AllowOverride None
order allow,deny
allow from all
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>
This basically works but at / there is the default Fedora page that
is served when there is no index.html
I did try getting it installed in /var/www/wiki rather than
/var/www/wiki/wiki but that didn't work, I've also not got any
mod-rewrite rules working (I have tried to get them working but with
no luck).
I'd like a directory / httpd.conf /mod_rewrite setup that would
seperate off the code that is repeated for multiple sites from the
site specific stuff and I'd like URIs that are as short as possible
(I guess /w/ and /wiki/ can't be left out?).
Do people use a ScriptAlias for /w/ or something?
Does anyone have a setup that that they could post as an example (I
have spent some time in this list archives and on the web site but
couldn't find any answers...)?
One other thing, what is the difference between these two, is the
$wgDBsqlpassword variable the MySQL root password (that is what I'm
using but I don't understand why I'm also prompted for it when I run
install.php):
$wgDBpassword = "";
$wgDBsqlpassword = "";
Thanks
Chris

hi,
Firstly thanks for providing such a wonderful soft.
Currently I'm using postnuke to manage documents. But after I found media wiki,
I decide to switch to it because it is so powerful. However, my php
configuration is register_globals = off. Postnuke and some other server
application I'm using is depend on this option. So, if there is any method
or patch available to use mediawiki with register_globals = on? If so, that'll
be great.
Thanks!

to the list?

Hi,
is there a possibility to install Mediawiki on a Sourceforge-Website?, and
if yes, how do I do it? I'd love to use Mediawiki as the wiki for the
Website of my Sourceforge-Project, and yes, I know, it is overkill in some
instances, but it's so great in many others (I love free links, and not
having the strange looking '?' characters in my text, and much more).
So, how do I do it?
Thanks in advance,
Denny
