$wgDBtransactions gets set to true if using InnoDB tables. Is there
an advantage to using InnoDB tables?
The disadvantage is that with MySQL there is a file, ibdata1, that
seems to grow endlessly if InnoDB tables are used. See
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=1341
We're wondering if we should just convert everything to MyISAM. Any
thoughts?

Hi,
Is there a way to ensure that a template is included in all pages of a
particular namespace? I'd like to use our mediawiki to allow people to
annotate some things in a biology project, and the wiki URLs will be
generated automatically by an external program.
Thanks,
Matthew

Hello,
I am having a problem with the Search feature. I have checked
Mediawiki.org's Archives, and found references to my problem, but no
resolution.
The issue is with using dashes & periods; hence, searching for IP
addresses returns either nothing, or all instances of IP addresses,
depending on the syntax I use.
What is the proper syntax for searching when periods or dashes are included?
Configuration:
MediaWiki 1.16.0
PHP 5.1.6
MySQL 5.0.77
Regards,
Hej list,
I want to backup mediawiki on webserver w/o shell, I learned that
mw_tools.zip from allwiki.com should be my friend.
Unfortunately allwiki.com is down and I don't know any other source.
Do you know an alternative download?
Another way of backing up without shell-access?
Thank you in advance!
regards Holger
Yes I have the same problem. So annoying. Are humans confirming the emails as
well?
I have captcha, email confirmation and the SpamBlacklist extension and i'm still
getting spammed every day for the last week. They keep making new accounts every
day. What can I do since they are bypassing all this? Really annoying and time
consuming banning users and deleting spam pages.

Hi guys,
I'm starting to get less time for doing list administrator stuff but there
is getting more work every week. The queue with this that needed to be done
was one a week when I started but its grown to 10 a week. With the holidays
coming up and that means lots of out of office replays I guess its time to
find a list moderator to help out.
Currently I guess its best to look someone that's active in the community,
and is active on this list in good standing..
When you want to help out please e-mail me at

Hi all!
Wikimedia Germany invites anyone interested in improving MediaWiki to come and
join us at or third developer meet-up. Like the last two years, it's going to be
awesome! Unlike the last two years, there will be more hacking and less talking
- it'll be a Hackathon, not a BarCamp.
We'll meet on May 13 to 15, in Berlin, on the 4th floor of the betahaus
coworking space <http://betahaus.de/>.
There will not be an entrance fee, but registration is mandatory and now open:
<http://de.amiando.com/hackathon2011>.
Registration will close on April 10. If you like to attend, please register in
time!
More information can be found at
<http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Berlin_Hackathon_2011>.
The Berlin Hackathon 2011 is an opportunity for MediaWiki hackers to come
together, squash bugs and write crazy new features. Our main focus this time
around will probably be:
* Improving usability / accessibility
* Interactive Maps
* Fixing the parser
* WMF Ops (new data center, virtualization)
* Supporting the Wiki Loves Monuments image hunt
* Squashing bugs
If you have different ideas, please let us know:
<http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Berlin_Hackathon_2011#Topics>
The Hackathon will be hosting the Language committee and Wiki loves Monuments
group. There is a limited number of seats reserved for these groups and if you
belong to one of them, you should receive an invitation code soon.
If you have any doubts or questions, contact us at <hackathon(a)wikimedia.de>.
We’re excited to see you in Berlin, your Hackathon Team

All,
For my low traffic internal Wiki, I want to enable email notification on Every page update, not just the first (items on the watchlist only email alert you to changes for the next change since you last read or edited a page).
How do I enable this ?
Jon.
