Hello everyone,
I was careless enough to run a MediaWiki installation allowing people to sign up without a moderator's approval. Hence a few hundred of them did sign up and started to use the site to swap images.
How can I delete their accounts in the most expeditious way?
Thanks.
Boris.

idk if it does anything about users existence en masse but it can deal with what they created.

For the accounts, Extension:User merge and delete[1] would probably be the best route, And just create a dummy account for you to merge them into. And use Extension:Nuke as Jeremy suggested to delete any pages they created.

Assuming that these accounts didn't do anything other than signup and register, you could easily use the removeUnusedAccounts.php maintenance script.

If they have made edits, then the Nuke extension is the best way to go. Jamie Thingelstad jamie@thingelstad.com mobile: 612-810-3699 find me on AIM Twitter Facebook LinkedIn

My wiki has been getting pummeled again with bot user accounts. For some reason RemoveUnusedAccounts isn't seeing the bot accounts even though they haven't made edits and everytime I try to download any extensions I get this error "Invalid response from Extension Distributor remote client.".

Well I was able to download the extensions at work.. don't know what is different between here and home yet but at least I can see I'm the only person who has this problem.
I also figured out how to edit the RemoveUnusedAccounts script to actually find the unused spambot accounts. One of the parameters it uses to determine whether or not the account was unused was giving a false positive.
Now I just need to revisit my account creation security measures.
Thanks for all the help :-|
