Has anyone had much success with the SocialProfile extension? In
particular I am interested in what needs to be done to get all of the
functionality of UserStats to work. My current environment is an svn
installation of SocialProfile on 1.12.0. I see some updates are being
made to the user_stats table, but not stats_edit_count, etc. I would
love any tips or advice.
I recently installed another Mediawiki "testste" to practice on. I have
not really added any content and it was installed from the download site
at Mediawiki.com so it is a straight forward install.
I have in some manner had the menue items on the side bar repositioned
so that they are always on the left but below any content when the site
is looked at. I do not know how I managed to do that. Any ideas?
This has most likely been asked and answered many times, but I still
need to know. How do I get all the buttons that Wikipedia has for
editing. So far I have added "The Tex Box only but would like to have
all the others. They do not seem to be extensions, or I am looking in
the wrong place for them.
Thanks!

Hello,
I have a page with the following content:
==A==
Text
==B==
Text
...
==Z==
Text
==more content 1==
Text
==more content 2==
Text
==more content 3==
Text
I want:
-remove A-Z from the table of contents
-or at least collapse the table of contents per default (on this site)
Is this possible? Some other ideas?
Peter
So I made an accidental change to the modern skin's main.css (it was the
default for my wiki at http://benparr/com/wiki), where I added several lines
of adjusted logo code from the monobook theme. When I put it up, it
obviously broke the mediawiki code. I erased the bad code, but my mediawiki
is still horridly broken and nothing I've tried has fixed it.
Notes:
- I only have some PHP/CSS knowledge, I'm not a programmer
- I used a Dreamhost install to install the wiki onto my servers.
Please, I just want the wiki working again...any thoughts or anything I can
send to you or do to better find hte root of the problem?

Hello, I installed MediaWiki using yum. The web based
config gave me no errors and the db was populated just
fine. The problem is that when i browse
http://mail.deathstar.net/wiki/ , my page is broken
with no images and no cool layout. I just get a white
background thing with some formatted text.
I did a view src and:
--------------
<a style="background-image:
url(wiki/skins/common/images/wiki.png);"
href="wiki/index.php/Main_Page" title="Visit the Main
Page
------------------
Note that wiki/skins.. does not lie under my Apache
DocumentRoot. Why is the PHP generating a link like
that?
I have a default apache install with:
LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so
Apache: DocumentRoot "/var/www/"
My /var/www/wiki/LocalSettings.php contains:
if( defined( 'MW_INSTALL_PATH' ) ) {
$IP = MW_INSTALL_PATH;
} else {
$IP = '/usr/share/mediawiki';
}
$wgScriptPath = "wiki"; (because this should be
relative to my Apache DocumentRoot [URL base path])
-------------------------------------------------------
Could someone help me figure out what needs to be done
to gett his to work?? Should i create an Apache Alias
for wiki/skins ??
Hi,
I'm trying to define a magic word returning the lastModified date, but I'm
stuck. My first attempt was:
$wgUser->getSkin()->lastModified()
but it seems $wgArticle (used by lastModified) is not defined at the
point the magic word is processed. Is there a simple way to get that
date?

Sounds like one of those "security" plugins for your web server, perhaps
mod_security.
It's set in an overprotective mode that freaks out and denies access
when it sees bits of text coming through the form submission that it
thinks are indicative of an SQL or code injection attack.
Contact your system administrator and let them know they've
misconfigured the software and should back it out to more reasonable
settings.

Not that I'm expecting developers to dive into fixing this :-) I'm
just curious how hard or easy this sort of thing is to fix. Does it
require duplicating functionality in preview? Is there a better way?
etc.

We successfully run mediawiki for a year with version 1.9.3
(with an extension function defining these hooks:
AutoAuthenticate, SpecialPage_initList, UserLogoutComplete).
Now we tried to upgrade to 1.12.0. The upgrade process seemed
to be OK, since the installer completed with "Installation
successfull".
However, it does not work; the error log states:
PHP Fatal error: Class 'DOMDocument' not found in
/magwien/var/gondor-phpserver/html/m13wiki/includes/Preprocess
or_DOM.php on line 566

Hello,
I'm new to this list, so please bear with me, and let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.
I've installed two wikis on the same server. They both work fine, except in both cases, the Special:RecentChanges page returns a server error (500).
The apache log error message is (for example):
PHP Warning: mysql_query(): Unable to save result set in /srv/www/htdocs/wiki/includes/Database.php on line 817, referer: http://{IP address}/wiki/index.php5/Special:Search?search=davo&go=Go
This error was logged when I tried to bring up RecentChanges after doing a (successful) search on "davo". However the error occurs no matter what page I start from.
I have had a quick look at Database.php, but I'm not a php expert and can't see anything obvious which would help me debug it. I've searched various forums and FAQ's but can't see any reference to a problem like this.
My versions are:
MediaWiki: 1.12.0
PHP: 5.2.4 (apache2handler)
MySQL: 5.0.45
OS: Linux SuSE 10.3
Can anyone suggest how I proceed with this?
Thanks
Les Russell
