In LocalSettings.php, I have this:
$wgEnableUploads = true;
$wgUploadPath = "$wgScriptPath/images";
$wgUploadDirectory = "$IP/images";
But when I try to upload an image, I keep getting this:
Could not create directory "public/6/64".
Somewhere MW thinks I want to upload files to a directory called
"public".

Using 1.12.0
I'm trying to get the Template:Infobox Single
from Wikipedia to work on my wiki.
I've tried going to the page on Wikipedia, clicking "Edit this page"
and copying the source to create the same template on my wiki.
I copied the styles as best I could (although I can't find the styles
for the class "vevent"). However, when copying the code from Wikipedia
for a song, and putting that in my wiki, it's totally messed up.
I'm using ParserFunctions.php, written by Tim Starling.
When the page that utilizes the "infobox single" template renders, it
writes the html table code but closes the <th> tags before including
the rest of what's in the template. Here's the beginning of the
template code. It renders fine through the "Single by" row, then all
bets are off.
{| class="infobox vevent" style="width: 20em;"

{{#if:{{{Caption|}}} | <div style="font-size: 0.8em; line-height:

! scope="row" style="width: 5.2em; text-align: left;" {{!}} [[A-side

Any help great appreciate!
Thanks.

RUN, don't walk, down to http://www.westciv.com/xray/xray_more.html
and download XRAY (free).
It's a javascript tool that has changed my life. You stick it on a
bookmark, and when you run it, a window pops up, prompting you to
click on any element on the web page. It then displays all its
attributes, including all the information you need to find it in your
CSS file
In less than an hour with this tool (and a nice CSS editor: "CSSEdit,"
Mac-only, but there are great ones for Linux and Windoze, I'm sure) I
managed to make a MediaWiki site look like a plain-Jane website.
Sorry I don't have THE answer, but this tool will answer your
question, and many more into the future.

Using 1.12.0
I just set this up and throughout the process I *thought* I was
writing down all the various passwords etc, however I don't seem to
have created the top-level Admin user.
I created a user via the log in/create account, but this doesn't give
me sufficient privileges.
Right now, the one user I created is the only user. For example, I
can't edit:
MediaWiki:mainpage

What's the right way to redirect to an article in the "project"
namespace without hard-coding the wiki name? Neither {{ns:project}} nor
{{SITENAME}} works:
#REDIRECT [[{{SITENAME}}:My page]]
#REDIRECT [[{{ns:project}}:My page]]
Instead of accomplishing a redirect, they merely render the text:
1. REDIRECT MyWikiName:My page
as if the "#" were a numbered list symbol.

How can I style the top tabs on the wiki, the ones with the boxes
around them (eg page, discussion)?
I need to set the widths and margins and can't find the style that
controls them in main.css.
Thanks!

Having set up about 6 wikis in v 1.9.3, I'm going to start a new wiki.
Should I go with v 1.12? I know it's "final release" but what's the
recommendation:
1.11.2 or 1.12.0?
Thanks!

When creating a new thread, do not reply to an existing message and change the

Messages posted to the list have the "Reply-To" header set to the mailing list,

posting a reply which is only interesting to the original poster, and not the

avoids cluttering the list with irrelevant traffic.

Hi,
after upgrading from 1.11 to 1.12 on FreeBSD6.3 I get the error message
above. I found a solution here:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Project:Support_desk#.28RESOLVED.29_PHP_Fatal…
$wgParserConf['preprocessorClass'] = 'Preprocessor_Hash';
I just would like to know if this is a confirmed bug or rather a "local
problem". php-xml is installed.
Thanks, Helmut
