I have been at this for a while but just recently installed the
Debianized versiion of Mediawiki from the Testing arena. I have been
trying, with some assistence & information from the Debian package
maintainer to get extensions to work that are not packaged with the
Debian Mediawiki. I am not new to Debian or Linux but only about a year
of practice with Mediawiki. I started off by installing the regular
version from Wikimedia/Mediawiki. After some database issues, I decided
(for ease of upgrades) to switch to the Debian version. All went well
including an upgrade, until I started trying to add extensions to the
wiki that were installed the "normal" way per the package maintainer.
This is not working. My question is : Is there any one else one the list
that might offer any tips???

Hi,
I am surprised to learn that
<http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:%24wgFeed> $wgFeed which lets
you turn off feeds, will only be available in v1.13. Until then, is
there a way to turn off feeds? Maybe by deleting or blanking some
file? Set $wgFeedLimit to 0 or -1? :)
thanks
Brianna

Hello
When trying to undelete a deleted page I got this message :
Permission error
You are not allowed to execute the action you have requested.
This message is so terse that it does not help to fix the problem.
Could it be modified in such a way as to tell
- the origin of the "permission error" (Wiki or Database).
- how to fix it.
Thanks

I've found I'm not getting notified when "my" watched pages get deleted on
a public wiki (http://wowwiki.com/). This seems like an odd oversight. Is
this corrected in current code?
As a rule I author a page and then don't revisit it unless someone changes
what I wrote. I found that the page had been gone for 6 months when I went
to add new information. The deletion was I think due to a change in page
naming policy and the page didn't get fixed to match the policy. (The bot
probably should have tagged the page first but I can understand forgetting
to take that step.) The admin has since recovered the page so I can bring
it into compliance.
Hope someone can help
I want to add email notification of watched pages
I understand to add in localsettings.php a boolean emailnotify
my problem is when users are setting up preferences
at the bottom of the form is an email box with this message
Your e-mail address is not yet authenticated. No e-mail will be sent for any of
the following features.
followed by a link to 'confirm your email'
pressing the link brings this response:
A confirmation code has already been e-mailed to you; if you recently created
your account, you may wish to wait a few minutes for it to arrive before trying
to request a new code.
This wiki requires that you validate your e-mail address before using e-mail
features. Activate the button below to send a confirmation mail to your address.
The mail will include a link containing a code; load the link in your browser to
confirm that your e-mail address is valid.
when button for mail a confirmation code is clicked
response is Confirmation e-mail sent.
my problem is that no email is sent
could someone please send me in the right direction?
Thanks

Welcome to mediawiki-l. This mailing list exists for discussion and questions

Posting to the list.
Before posting to this list, please read the MediaWiki FAQ[10]. Many common
questions are answered here. You may also search the list archives to see if
your question has been asked before.
Please try to ask your question in a way that enables people to answer you.
Provide all relevant details, explain your problem clearly, etc. You may
wish to read [13], which explains how to ask questions well.
To post to the list, send mail to <mediawiki-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>. This is a
public list, so you should not include confidential information in mails you
send.
When replying to an existing thread, use the "Reply" or "Followup" feature of
your mail client, so that clients that understand threading can sort your
message properly. When quoting other messages, please use the "inline" quoting
style[11], for clarity.
When creating a new thread, do not reply to an existing message and change the
subject. This will confuse peoples' mail readers, and will result in fewer
people reading your mail. Instead, compose a new message for your post.
Messages posted to the list have the "Reply-To" header set to the mailing list,
which means that by default, replies will go to the entire list. If you are
posting a reply which is only interesting to the original poster, and not the
list in general, you should change the reply to only go to that person. This
avoids cluttering the list with irrelevant traffic.

Hi mediawiki users,
I don't have much knowledge about mediawiki. Can we get a protected page
content? It is possible to get it using API? If it is possible, can
someone let me know which parameter that I should use?
Thanks,
Harry R.S.
Hello,
I have a custom AuthPlugin that authenticate the user with some cookies set
from an external web application.
The login/logout on the mediawiki platform will make no sense in this
context and so I would like to completly remove the links to the
login/logout forms.
I have found how to hide wiki page to non-autenticate users, but on the page
in which it says the user can't see the content, mediawiki places a link to
the login form.
I have found also how not to display the user registration form... but still
I have not found any way to disable this login/logout stuff.
Thank you very much for any help.
