Although I know TIFF is not really a web-friendly format, I have a need
to put TIFF files on a wiki, with thumbnails in PNG or JPEG format. I
can upload files without any trouble but thumbnails are not created.
This is mediawiki 1.11. It's not a matter, as far as I can tell, of
file size (the file I tested with wasn't all that big). Further, the
mime type is correctly discovered by mediawiki. I found an error in
the log about there not being a media handler for tiff files. Indeed,
the $wgMediaHandlers array (in /includes/DefaultSettings.php) does not
include anything for TIFF files. I tried adding an entry to the array
by placing this line in LocalSettings.php.
$wgMediaHandlers['image/tiff'] = 'BitmapHandler' ;
That clearly was not right. Now I get a properly sized image box on my
wiki page but it says "Error creating thumbnail: Invalid thumbnail
parameters". So, BitmapHandler is wrong. Is there any right handler
for tiff images are are they not supported? Thanks for your help.

I believe to have seen somewhere a template that displays
55% for e.g.
as a far filled up to a little more than half
in wiki tables....
Now, I'm using one for yes and no (yes is green and no is read) like in
wikipedia
rds,
Hi,
I am developing a Wiki for creating documentation. So far importing Word
documents and editing the documentation is working well, this is were
MediaWiki really has an advantage over other solutions.
But doing PDF export is not easy. I have installed PDFPrint, it works, but
the quality of the PDF's is not very good. The layout can be messed up and
most importantly, there are not much configuration options, like making
templates, display of links (internal and external), resizing of graphics
etc.
So now I am considering two other ways of PDF export:
1. Wiki to LaTeX
This extention has lots of possibility especially templates and extended
configuration using the LaTeX language. But learning and debugging LaTeX
errors takes some time.
2. Export to XML and convert to PDF (using XLST)
This can also be a good option, but the wiki XML syntax is no real form of
XML like XHTML which makes conversion difficult.
So I have two questions:
1. Who has experience with using the wiki2Latex addin and can give me some
advice on debugging LaTeX?
2. What are your experiences with PDF export and have you found a good way
to do it?

Hi,
mediawiki 1.12
I want to upload odt files (open office) but i get the followning error
message :
" This file is corrupt, has a zero size or an invalid extension"
I can upload : jpeg,doc and pdf files.
In LocalSettings.php i added :
$wgFileExtensions[] = 'odt';
Does someone has an idea ?
As a general question, simply to satisfy my curiosity, I would like to
ask if Mediawiki/Wikpedia could be XHTML 1.0 Strict (or even XHTML
1.1) compliant in the next years and what issues must be addressed to
accomplish this.
Regards.
Oh, sorry, my fault. The function is extractSections(). The Parser:: means it's in the Parser class in the includes/Parser.php file. You can use it to get data for TOC. And once more sorry. -MGrabovsky
Hi
Perharps someone gives a minut to get rid of that :
.. my Loop Template fails in testing/creating/keeping TWO params
{{Loop2}}, even without any param, must dysplay <p1> - <p2>
NB : {{Loop2}} is called by other Template and must "give" both.
<!----------- Code de {{Loop2}} ----------->
Début de Loop2<br />
{{#if:{{{1|}}}|<!-- "Then.1" Réussite du test de <1> on passe au <2> -->
{{#if:{{{2|}}}|<!-- "Then.2" Réussite du test de <2> -->
On obtient {{{1}}} - {{{2}}}
<!-- NB : On veut obtenir p1 - p2 -->
|<!-- Echec du test de <2> "Else.2" on crée <p2>et on réinjecte -->
correction de <2> <br />{{Loop2|{{{1}}}|p2}}
}}
|<!-- Echec du test de <1> "Else.1" on crée <p1> et on réinjecte-->
correction de <1> <br />{{Loop2|p1|{{{2}}}}}
}}
<!------------ On obtient ---------------->
Début de Loop2
correction de <1>
Début de Loop2
On obtient p1 - {{{2}}}
Can see that gives well the first <1> but the second stays {{{2}}
= I understand that {{{2}}} becomes the only unanammed param in the second
pass (when {{{1}}} : <p1>) but I don't know how to solve that comportement
and get the both parameters
... where have I to search : {{subst:}}? <noinclude>?

Hi Folks,
I have two questions that I am stumped on:
1) Is there a way to construct an interwiki link that references a past version of an article?
Presently, the only way I know how to do so is to copy the whole URL as an external link. The only down-side to this is that it is not a portable link if the wiki host should move. One solution I would be happy with is if someone could show me how to make an external link that contains a relative path from the wiki. Solutions requireing extentions are welcomed.
2) Is it possible to effectively transclude only the TOC of another page?
I am using a few articles as collaborative news pages whose headings change regularly. What I'd like to do is transclude the section headers only into a summary page which would act as a headline listing. Does anyone know of a technique and/or extenstion which when used in an article will list the section headers of another article (with links).
truest thanks all,
- Rich
