Relating back to my foray into SSO authentication (got it working,
btw... [still looking for a way to access MediaWiki:allowedusers from
the plugin...]), I am going to need to reassign edits and delete old
usernames.
The reassignEdits maintenance script works like a champ to accomplish
its purpose. And I think that I have a workable delete script based
off of removeUnusedAccounts. Now, what I need to figure out how to do
is move the User and User_talk pages (and subpages) from the old
username to the new username. What would be the best way to accomplish
that goal?
Anyone else getting tired of reading all of these messages from me today? ;-)

Hi,
I like to rewrite my "/wiki/index.php?title=article&action=edit (or
whatever else)" to "/wiki/article?action=edit", and
"wiki/index.php?title=Talk:article" to "/wiki/discuss/article" (also,
how can I change 'Talk:article' to 'Discuss:article'?). I don't like to
use LocalSettings.php, I want the url to be accessible both through
"/wiki/article" and "index.php?title=article"...
My wiki is installed in '/wiki' and not in '/w', and it must stay there.
I'd like to use the httpd.conf file (Apache version 2.2.2), and not
.htaccess (unless that is better of course)...
Thanks in advance,
Snoeckx Sebastiaan...
All of a sudden, I can't edit my wiki. It's complaining about a loss
of session data.
I'd seen this once before when for some reason my session save path
directory (/var/lib/php4) had disappeared. I checkd phpinfo and that's
what it thinks the session save path is, but the directory is there
and the permissions don't seem to have changed. I changed the owner
from root to the user which runs apache and nothing changes.
Any ideas on what else to check?
The version special page reports:
# MediaWiki: 1.6.7
# PHP: 4.4.0-3ubuntu2 (apache2handler)
# MySQL: 4.0.24_Debian-10ubuntu2.3-log

I don't understand the syntax for contructing regular expressions yet,
can anybody help please?
I wanted to make one which catches all external links to sites which
begin with the number 1 and also end with .org as this is a spam
pattern I have been having repeated trouble with recently, but using
|1*.org| has the unintended effect of blocking all .orgs
So I reverted to this:
$wgSpamRegex="/(phente|xanax|valium|geocities|casino|myflooring.org|display:none|-ambien|overflow:[
\t\n]*auto)/";

I've been searching for a good user activity log for our Mediawiki
intranet instance. Since MySql and PHP are already on the server, it
would seem best to find one that uses those apps.
I'm interested in visitor activity by both ip and/or username to find
out which pages are the being used as the entry point and popular
navigation paths.
Being able capture cookie info would be icing on the cake.
Any suggestions?
Brian
I want to write a custom AuthPlugin that will redirect users to a
single sign-on page for authentication. Here's the rub, though... I
don't want the user to have to go to Special:Userlogin. I have our
wiki locked down... no anonymous reads or edits. Are there any hooks
to login without user intervention? Or, will I need to hack core code
to do this?

There was a mistake in setting up the server, and the date was october 2006,
and i made some changes to the wiki.
now, i put the date back to july 2006, then the recent changes list doesn't
work properly, since i'm editing BEFORE other edits...
is there anyway i can fix it?
Is it possible to comment the messages stored in the MediaWIki:
namespace and then not have those comments included when calling then
from a plugin or other code? <noinclude /> keeps the comments out in
the page is included in another wiki article, but is there a way to do
similar in code? None of the wfMsg* functions that I glanced at or
tried did what I wanted.
Thoughts?
Dan
