Hi,
when saving an article I get "databaseerror" and "internal error", but the article is saved.
1. How can resolve this error?
2. Where can I find a documentation about fixing database errors?
3. Where can I find help about how to use the *.php files in wiki/maintenance

Hi all,
Been trying to work out how to run small collaborative group wikis off the
one install and it looks like WikiFarms might be the way to go. However, I
can't seem to figure out the details of how wikicities or wikipedia have
done it...
What I'm looking at trying to achieve is something to the effect of
project1.mywiki.com <http://project1.mywiki.com> and
project2.mywiki.com<http://project2.mywiki.com>.
I don't think additional namespaces are what I want since I'd like to keep
them quite separate.
Would someone be able to point me to the relevant how-to or similar please?
Thanks.
I know that by setting "$wgWhitelistEdit = true;" in LocalSettings.php I can limit edits to registered users. However, we have a need to control new accounts. Is there a way to allow just sysops to create user accounts for others? Ideally the special page "Create an account or log in" would be split into a "log in" page available to anyone and a "Create an account" page available only to sysops.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there,
Were are doing a Wiki on the Intranet of a big company. We do not want to expose the Wiki to all of the company's employees, but rather restrict access to a particular group of people.
Would it be possible to provide acccess based on IP adress-ranges (not having to provide an account and password and doing all the maintenance; resetting passwords etc.)? I know that we then do not have automatically logged in editors, but is just good to know the possibility.
Anyone else having these kind of issues on an Intranet?
By the way is it actually possible to reset a password for a user?
Many thanks,
Marcel

I tried this, with errors. Special:Export XML script loaded in the webbrowser, then I copied the script to notepad. Saved it as import.xml, then tried Special:Import on my wiki (1.5rc4). I get the following error:
"Import failed: : not well-formed (invalid token)"

I simply tried exporting one of the Help pages:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Export/Help:Table
I then tried copying the text to notepad, then uploading the file to my site. After that didn't work, I tried saving the page direct from the browser. That didn't work either.
You can try to upload it at

Sounds odd. Have you tried saving the XML file directly from the
browser, as opposed to copy-and-paste? Perhaps the browser's inserting
text at the top or bottom, although that would be obvious enough to
avoid when copy and pasting.
If you want me to have a go at getting the XML file, let me know.

Hi,
i want to configure the wikisearch find more words in fulltext search. I
know there's text like XYZ (3 characters) but i cannot find them - same
problem with XYZ-ABC. How can i configure the search?
In SearchEngine.php i see following syntax:
...
class SearchEngine {
var $limit = 10;
var $offset = 0;
...
Is this the first step i need to edit?
The stopwords are not the fault.
Greetings,
Tobias
I too would like to see IP based access.
I like the idea of having google index our wiki and providing valuable
info to other institutions and libraries. But we really don't want
outsiders editing the pages. This leaves it open for spam as well.
Ideally I would be able to set an IP range that had login access. All
others would have read only access. Then I could leave the talk pages
open to editing for people to contribute if they liked.

Hi folks,
I am using Media-Wiki for a small "Intranet" (info-pages)
When using templates (especially infoboxes),
I would like to format them using classes.
Reading both, the Media-Wiki and the Wikipedia documentation back
and forth, I could not find, where they are defined.
(example: class="infobox" at the beginning of almost all
Wikipedia infobox-typed templates)
My assumption was to find them in the main.css or monobook.css,
but this was not the case.
My questions:
- where are/shall these classes be defined?
- is it allowed to just get/copy them from Wikipedia?
I am grateful for every helpful reply,
regards
Wolfgang
