No root access to database during installation

Hi I just joined to this list, and looking for help to how to install wiki to shared server where you do not have a root access to database. As you all are probably aware the installation fails if you do not have root accesst to database. Florian Effenberger <floeff(a)arcor.de> has reported this bug #921, at 2004-11-20 17:56. Graham, Just a note that we have Mediawiki running on Windows 2000 and IIS and it works fine. There are some performance issues to be wary of (100% cpu utilisation while the PHP scripts run to generate a page), but as long as you have enough grunt on your server or a fairly small load (like we do) you should be fine. Wouldn't it be cool if you could CC an address and it would automatically generate a new wiki page based on that email? This would remove the burden from wikignomes constantly having to cut and paste emails into new pages.. Is such a thing possible? Recent Changes page

Greetings, I am using mediawiki (ver 1.4.4). I notice that the Special:Recentchanges page is not listing all the changes made so far. How Can I solve this problem? I changed number of days and number of records and still the first change recorded as made at Aug 22. The revision page history for each page show the correct changes made. Search and Logs give blank pages

Hi - I am running the following in Apache 2 on Windows XPsp2. MediaWiki (http://wikipedia.sf.net/): 1.4.9 PHP (http://www.php.net/): 5.0.5 (apache2handler) MySQL (http://www.mysql.com/): 4.1.14-nt-log When I try to do a search, the browser goes to http://djj1531/sensorwiki/index.php/Special:Search?search=blah&fulltext=Sea… but the page is blank. The same thing happens when I go to the Logs page. The html source for these blank pages is: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD> <BODY></BODY></HTML> Is anything special required for doing searching or logging?
