Changing the user login system

I'm setting up a wiki for a system that has an existing corporate login system. We want it to be integrated with this system, rather than relying on an external one. Especially I don't want it to set any type of cookie to check user id, as this may weaken the security of the existing system. Basicly anywhere it figures out the user id, I'd like to pull that and rely on my code to figure out what user it is (I will still have a user table in the db, it will map external user ids to wiki ids). Can anyone point me out to what files would need to be changed? I'm guessing User.php, but what file actually does the logon sequence? Gabe

Error during install of MediaWiki: Fatal error: Class rccacheentry

I'm getting this error during the installation process ( I have changed the permission of the config folder to 777 ): Fatal error: Class rccacheentry: Cannot inherit from undefined class recentchange in /home/userkirk/public_html/includes/Skin.php on line 53 Here is a copy of the install report: ------------------------------------------------------ MediaWiki 1.4.9 installation Please include all of the lines below when reporting installation problems. Default search? Adding namespaces to it

I added a namespace and put several pages into it. However, I cannot make the search function default to searching both the main and the new namespace. The namespace is "Key Term", so I added this to my LocalSettings.php: $wgNamespacesToBeSearchedDefault = array( NS_MAIN => true, NS_KEY_TERM => true ); It only searches the Main namespace.

Import dump

I was wondering how you import an xml dump from meta. When I tried using Special:Import, it gave me the error "Unknown Import Source Type". If there is a different way i should be doing this, please let me know. Thanks, shardsofmetal

mediawiki behind reverse proxy - relative links

Hi, I am trying to run mediawiki (v1.4.0) behind a reverse proxy. The reverse proxy is set up with Apache2 mod_proxy module. The problem is now, that mediawiki is using an absolute path in href links, which I can't handle with mod_proxy. Example of a mediawiki link in HTML-Source: <a href="/mediawiki/index.php/Special:Recentchanges" .....> My $wgScriptPath is set to "/mediawiki". My mod_proxy config looks like: ------------------------------------ ProxyPass /app1/ http://192.168.1.1/ ProxyPass /app1 http://192.168.1.1 <Location /app1/> ProxyPassReverse / </Location> <Location /mediawiki/> ProxyPassReverse /app1 </Location> ------------------------------------ Note: The Location directive is an alternative of "ProxyPassReverse /app1/ http://192.168.1.1/", see http://www.apacheweek.com/features/reverseproxies. When I access http://www.myproxy.com/app1/, the mediawiki pages are loaded well. The Browser URL is set to http://www.myproxy.com/app1/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page. Fine. But all links in the nagigation box are pointing to e.g. http://www.myproxy.com/mediawiki/index.php/Special:Recentchanges. The "/app1" is missing here, so the navigation links fail. This is because mediawiki sends always an abolute href path back. I have tried to set $wgScriptPath to "./mediawiki", "mediawiki" or "../../mediawiki". But that didn't work. Has anybody experiences with running mod_proxy towards mediawiki ? How can I set mediawiki to use relative links in HTML sources ? Any other suggestions ? Thanks in advance Ralf

Page Templates

Hi, I would like to define a standard page to use for documenation on my wiki. It should look something like Header: ... Business Case: ... Notes and Progress: ... etc I tried to set this up first with a wiki template. {{ProjectTemplate|Blah|blah|blah}} However it doesn't seem to be able to give me the flexibility to create different section of markup and possible change their position at a later time. I am thinking of something like an html page where I define different sections and then can define a stylesheet at a later time. Is there anything like this in Mediawiki? Chris McIntosh

Sessions

Hello, I am trying to integrate Mediawiki 1.4.9 into an existing site, with one log-in for both, which I want to be the main-site log-in. The wiki is in a subdirectory of the main site. What I have done so far to integrate the two: As a query string, my main log-in sends the variables that SpecialUserLogin.php expects from its own form. (The POST requirement for processing in SpecialUserLogin.php has been disabled; the check for POST was already done in the main site log-in.); I have added the handler $wgHooks['UserLoginComplete'][] = array('addtosessions', $loginreturnto) to add the necessary main site variables to the session. [Once I get it working, I'll come back to the case of an incomplete login.] I have $wgUseMemCached = false; although I found that the session would not survive the first wiki page-change without my commenting out, in User.php, the code: function SetupSession() ... /*if( $wgSessionsInMemcached ) { require_once( 'MemcachedSessions.php' ); } else */ ... This works fine, as long as I stay in the wiki directory. However, whenever I leave the wiki directory to go back up to the main site or to look at edit help at the mediawiki site, and come back again, I have lost my wiki session. Is there a save routine and/or a session object that I cannot find, that needs modification? Any suggestions would be appreciated. escaping user input

I am creating a custom special page to gather some information from user. I have create a table to store the data in and am trying to use the Database object to access it. This all works fine, but I need to validate the user input. I would like to use mysql_real_escape_string to avoid sql injection, but there does not seem to be any function in the Database object to escape a string. I suspect there is an easy way to do this since mediawiki accepts a lot of user input. Anyone know what the best way to go about escaping user input is within the mediawiki architecture? Hi, I install mediawiki 1.49 on Redhat Linux 9. After I followed the instruction and installed mysql, apache and php, I got the following error msg when I tried to config the mediawiki on the web browser.
