Wikimedia Foundation survey: proposed movement name change

Hello everyone, The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking to change the name of the movement. A survey has been underway for some time now to get feedback on this proposed name change. A proposal that is proving to be controversial with the volunteer community. You can fill in the feedback survey at the link below. I encourage people to give their feedback through this survey on the proposed name change. It could have some real impact on us as a chapter as depending on the name change and way in which it is done we, Wikimedia South Africa, might also have to change our name as well along with all other chapters and affiliates. Possibly to Wikipedia South Africa. However it seems as though it is most likely that we will be allowed to choose to keep or change our names when we like at any point in the future. We have two weeks before a final decision is made. Feedback needed: Wikimedia Branding Project

Good morning everyone As you may or may not know, Wikimedia is busy with a project to potentially rebrand. We now have the opportunity to give feedback on the project as it stands right now. However, in order to streamline the process, I've been asked to complete the feedback on behalf of the ZA Chapter. Hello everyone, The first of two Wikipedia clinic events will be held at 7:30pm (SA time) today. The events are being held to " better support members of the community during this time, the Community Development team at the Wikimedia Foundation is interested in trying an experiment: scheduling open video calls (using Google Meet) where any active Wikimedian would be welcome to attend and ask questions or ask for advice about whatever Wikimedia-related goal or problem they're working on. You can also just share what you're working on and invite feedback, even if you don't have a specific question. Or people can just connect to hang out, or to offer their own experience to the people asking questions." African translators needed

Good morning everyone The Moleskin Foundation has teamed up with Wikimedia to translate specific COVID-19 articles into 10 African languages. While all languages are welcome, these have been identified as focus areas. We however need all our editors help in getting these core articles translated and checked. - Urhobo - Eleme Language - *Shona* - *isiXhosa* - Yoruba - Ewe - *KiSwahili* - *isiZulu* - Hausa - Igbo Should you be interested in helping with this project, please contact me or any of the board members for more information. Should you be new to editing, help will be given in getting your translated article posted.
