Hi everyone
just to provide a quick update: following on from quite a few additions/
comments to the docs on the meta page, we've sent the most recent version of
the Articles of Memo and Association docs to Tobias as there are some
comments and questions that he will be able to assist with. Tobias is
currently travelling in Europe but he has taken printed copies with him to
look over whilst travelling.
He'll get back to us as soon as is possible.
Regards
Kerryn

Hi all,
I have made a whole lot of comments this weekend on the proposed
constitution. You can identify all of them by looking at the diff:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Wikimedia_South_Africa/Pro…
I've really focussed on the articles of association now, but I'll take
a look at the proposed documents soon.

David

Dear all,
This seems like a good time to take stock. We have extensive feedback
(internal and external) on the proposed rules for a Wikimedia SA chapter; we
have a group of individuals who have kindly offered us their time and
attention as Directors of the potential chapter (thank you!)
It would seem like the right time for the group who have offered to lead
this effort to decide amongst themselves and divide responsibilities going
forward (since there is some time away from the chapter becoming a reality).
The first thing that needs to be done is for someone to sift through the
suggestions made, see which to apply and which to reject, make the changes
all around, then run them through Tobias (the primary drafter) and Kerryn
one more time, and finally send on to the chapters committee on behalf of
all of us in order to open up the chapter conversation.
Can those who've stepped up to the task of directing Wikimedia SA begin with
this?
Cheers,
Achal
Following on from Kerryn's post, *please help*!
Things that need to be done by folks who signed up to handle chapter
formation:
- Respond to comments posted on meta (regarding chapter rules)
- Finalise a list of founding members and directors of Wikimedia SA
- Finalise chapter rules and submit them to the chapters committee
- Follow up with the chapters committee until the chapter is approved
If some of you can individually sign up on these tasks and get going,
we'll have a chapter soon.
Cheers,
Achal
Hi
The following people have expressed interest in contributing towards
building and leading Wikimedia ZA by being a director.
Aslam Raffee
David Richfield
Lourie Pieterse
Mohau Monaledi
Myself
This isn't cast in stone yet, so if there's someone else you'd like to
see as a director, please feel free to forward their name, or encourage
them to so so, and if you'd like to stand, feel welcome :)
Most important now is that we finish off the provisional founding
documents. Kerryn has been co-ordinating this, and this week she's been
getting some assistance from David, Lourie and Derryn in particular.
This may seem tedious, but it's important we have the right foundation
to build on, so thanks to everyone who's helped so far.
I know many of you are waiting to help out with the more 'exciting'
projects once all the admin is out the way, in particular those who
listed themselves on the "Activity Planning" list at the workshop.
There's no reason to wait - if there's an activity you're excited about
getting involved in (and a lot were brainstormed at the workshop), let
me know, and we can focus on a few.
