Cape Town edit-a-thon: 21 January 2017

Hello everyone, Just wanted to let you all know that we will be having our first edit-a-thon of the year at the American Corner this Saturday the 21st January 2017 at the Central Library in Cape Town. We don't have a theme for this edit-a-thon so if you have one in mind please do come along and we can all work on it together. *When*: Saturday, 21st January 2017 *Time*: from 10:00 - 16:00 (welcome to come and go as you like) *Where*: The American Corner, Central Library, Cnr. Parade & Darling st, Cape Town, 8001 Even if you are not interested in editing it will also be a great opportunity to join us for friendly Wiki related discussions and to hang out. It will be a great place to discuss the recent awarding of the bid to Cape Town to host Wikimania in 2018. So I understand there are typically not enough scholarships applications from Southern Africa, but from David's mail I understand there are usually too many applications for scholarships overall. So how many scholarships are typically granted overall, and how many applications are from Southern Africa typically? Wikimania 2017 scholarships

Hello everyone, This is just to let everyone on this mailing list know that scholarships to attend Wikimania 2017 in Canada are now open. Wikimania is an annual Wikimedia/Wikipedia conference organised by both the Wikimedia Foundation and local Wikipedia editors. This year's event will take place in Montréal, Quebec, Canada from Aug 9-13, 2017. Everyone on this mailing list is invited to apply. We typically do not get enough scholarship applicants from Southern African countries so if you are interested in attending then please do apply. It is a great event that I always try to make a point of attending and always enjoy meeting new people at. Especially folks from southern Africa. Your case seems to have been handled competently by the Wikipedia administrators. You posted spam multiple times, and sought to use sockpuppets to try and frustrate the administrators' efforts. You were thus blocked indefinitely as it was decided that you were probably never going to learn to contribute to Wikipedia positively and constructively.
