Hello everyone,
We don't normally do this but the past seven days have been particularly
eventful for the chapter so I thought I would write up a summary for
everyone to share these activities. I would like to thank all the
participants of the events we conducted over the past week, many of whom
have now joined this mailing list. Welcome!
I have created a page on meta wiki to where this write up can be seen.

Please let us know if you have any questions, comments or would like to get
involved/volunteer with or in any of the future events we are currently
working on.
Best regards,

Hello,
Code for Africa (CfA) is pleased to invite the WMZA community members to
join the campaign it organizes which focuses on addressing issues such as
climate denialism or delayism and related mis/disinformation on Wikipedia.
The campaign under the theme “Bridging the gap: using Wikipedia to fight
climate-denialism” has been launched in four African countries including
South Africa. This campaign, which aims to pioneer new ways for the wider
African Wikipedia community to mobilise and tackle issues such as climate
denialism or delayism and related mis/disinformation, offers to
participants the opportunity to benefit from training sessions (including
editing and fact-checking techniques), as well as a data bundles package.
If you are a contributor to the Wikimedia space, passionate about climate
change in Africa, then this volunteer opportunity is for you.
We highly invite you to join the community to increase verifiable and
credible data about Africa on Wikipedia, and improve documentation on
climate change in South Africa (and in its languages).
You can join the campaign by completing this form
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc7F4_SwnPLbRJ9A9XZ84wGn51HnaL9Bc-…>,
and learn more about it here

Looking forward to having you with us soon!
Cordially,
Reda Benkhadra
Hello everyone,
Wikimedia South Africa, in partnership with the Iziko South African
National Gallery, will be hosting a Wikipedia training and edit-a-thon
event on Saturday, 15 October 2022. We will be hosting events in Cape Town
and Johannesburg at the same time.
Please feel free to join us for this event. Having more chapter members and
veteran Wikipedia editors present will help us give more event participants
indervidual coaching to more quickly learn how to make meaningful edits on
Wikipedia.
