Hi all,
I got this from a colleague today. If any of you feel like contributing to
a good cause and maybe doing a bit of marketing for WMZA, please contact
Thato. Unfortunately I am likely to be out of the country at the time.
Kind regards,
David

Hello beautiful people
A dear friend of mine is hosting a quiz afternoon to raise funds for her
NPO. She runs “Discover your Career” workshops for Gr. 9 leaners from
disadvantaged schools within the greater JHB region. Would be really cool
if you can come through and support this initiative, to have fun and
empower a young black child at a time.
Are you the human Google amongst your group of friends or the walking
Wikipedia at work?
Put your general knowledge to the test with an exclusive quiz competition.
Not only could you earn bragging rights, your smarts will contribute
towards a worthy cause too. The purpose of the quiz competition and lunch
is to fundraise for an initiative that provides educational support to
grade 9 learners.
Have a look at invite attached and do the right thing JJJJ
Thanks and see you there!!!

Hi Guys
This is a formal call for review of the project document that is heavily
based on the presentation document to the Westerncape Heritage people by
Maarten and Lourie. From Isla's questions it became clear that we need
another document to formally introduce WLM and how we intend to run the
competition.
the document has been shared with most of you. Herewith link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1I1avBA9R1BJacI-leR1fzHjcm9GQgPXo6Q51Y6B…
If you have nay trouble opening this document please contact me and I
can send you a pdf version of the document.
Please note that once approved, the text of the document will be very
helpful in completing the WLM-2012-ZA website. Maybe the two documents
can be included in the agenda of the gauteng proposed chapter meeting.
Anyways, please check it out and comment/amend where necessary.

Dumisani Ndubane
Hi guys, we would like to officially inform you all that the "Wiki Loves Monuments - South Africa" external website is online and under construction. It can be accessed on the following link:
http://www.wikilovesmonuments.co.za
It should also come up on google. We need help proofreading, editing and other ideas. We are also working on implementing facebook and tweeter live feeds.
We will also need some one to take the reins in running our tweeter and facebook pages.
All in all we are now looking more organized than most countries in this competition.
Regards
Dumi

Hi all,
I've put up a list of our members at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_South_Africa/Members . If you
are a member and don't see your name there, or vice versa, please let
me know. If you would like to add more information, such as a
web-link or contact details, to your name, feel free to do so, or to
ask me to do so.
I've also updated the list of directors at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_South_Africa/Directors to
note that Kerryn and Ian have resigned. I'm not quite sure how to put
it, and what the status is of a director who has resigned - I'm open
to suggestions.
Lastly, I've tried to bring our page on meta up to date, but it's a
work in progress. Please take a look at the changes I've made, and
either edit it directly, or make suggestions:

Hi all,
Just wanted to make sure that I am linked up as a member.
I appended my name somewhere at the start but, with the organisation having grown, am not sure if that signifies membership as such.
All the best

Hi Lindiwe,
I've taken you off the mailing list as you asked, but please don't
worry about inaction or inability to add value at a specific stage of
the project!
I'd like to know where your interests and skills lie - if we want to
run any projects where you might want to give input, do you mind if I
contact you?
Kind regards,
David

Hi Guys and Girls.
I want to commed all of you who participated in the Social Development focus
ducument for this Wiki Loves Monuments project. The response has been
overwhelming, with almost 7 people who commented and edited the document
online!! We are definately on the right track.
I also want to send a special thanks to Lourie and Maarten for exceptional
dedication to this project, and for willing to put up with my pedantic
unpleasant nagging. In the past two weeks we have done a month's worth of work
on the project. If we keep this momentum going, we should be able to catch up
on the month we are behind with according to global wiki loves monuments
schedule.
There is a long way to go still, below are some of the things we still need to
achieve inorder to have a clean bill of health.
1) Complete Website design for WLM-2012 za site. The site is live and under
construction. I will have some time this weekend so I can do a bit of work
here. There are some bugs I am finding and will send through to Lourie as my
coding is as good as my criminal law knowledge.
2) Tie-up Social development focus document and then enrich the presentation
document from the Western cape meeting with Heritage department to suit future
presentations. Decide on GP meeting with Heritage department and see if we
cant also arrange one with department of basic education.
3) Get chapter website live and start setting up.
4) Start brainstorming 2014 Wikimania Bid. We have got to bring this one
home!!
Ofcourse there are many other things I missed out but this is just to plot a
way foward for the year. With only six months left to the year and factoring
that we are all volunteers with life commitments.... this is a tall order, but
am sure that with the current momentum we should succeed.
Thank you guys for participating, its up to all of us to make this chapter
work.
Regards
Annoying Dumi :-)
