Hey,
as we are a little bit behind schedule, I went trough the checklist
start advertising the project in your local Wikimedia community
-> to be done. I can do Afrikaans (but need help on this), who will do
English and Sotho/Xhosa/...
-> pre-announcement at the local Village Dump
start a discussion on defining communication channels
-> I propose to use email (we can use the existing mailinglist
WikimediaZA(a)lists.wikimedia.org), Twitter (who makes a new Twitter account?
eg. WikiMonumentsZA )
lists of monuments
->tomorrow with SAHRA, important meeting!
structure the lists, allow for people to report errors
->to be done
create a local helpdesk
->to be done, I propose to use a subpagina of the commons page
website
-> fill with content (see examples of the other countries, easy)
-> finish the content for that website
IRL meeting
-> would be good. Mid June in Joburg?
Start looking for sponsorships
->tbd
Think on promotion material
->I will arrange with Andrew
Start working on local events programme
->Who wants to help with this?
(I now have to run of to the meeting with the journalist :-))
Groete,
Maarten
Hello Ameerah
I am happy that we talked today. Thank you for taking the time finalising the endorsement and getting the contact details of the other provinces.
Coming back to meeting again with Andrew; do he have any openings in his diary next week?
Kind regards
Lourie

Regarding our (Wikimedia ZA running the Wiki Loves Monuments competition) previous meeting; can you please send me the contact details of the heritage departments of the other provinces? We would like to contact them and get them involved in the project. Also, any news on the proof of endorsement? Thanks for your time, it is appreciated.

Hello Robert
I hope that you are well. You mentioned in the past that you created the WikimediaZA twitter account. Can you please pass the credentials to me? You said that you deleted these accounts, but the Twitter account still exists, so I am hoping that it is the original account you created, and not someone else. Thanks.
Kind regards
Lourie
Hi all,
I'm watching Morning live while waiting for Surice, and they have a stream of community interest stories: right now they have Prof Les Underhill from UCT talking about a project to collect data on species distributions.
This seems like a great opportunity to market the WLM competition. Who would be willing and able to do an interview with them?
David

Sounds like a good plan, I don't have problems with it. Just confirm with Isla, as she is currently handling the social media stuff.

Yes, we have! I have checked the items with "doing" and "not done" that needs our immediate attention. If you can continue trying to find partnerships it would be great! The site isn't running for so long, but we are still working on it. Please take a look at the items I checked and also on the talk page: http://wikilovesmonuments.co.za/wiki/Talk:Timeline.
Thanks!

Hello everyone
I have added the timeline template to our local site for easy viewing and editing:
http://wikilovesmonuments.co.za/wiki/Timeline
Please go through it and tick items I maybe forget to tick.
Kind regards

Hi all,
Loewijk asked whether someone could fill in the Cool Projects form for
WMZA on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dENaVEUybm1OaEJZYkYtSz…
I don't want to get into trouble for filling the wrong stuff into it -
does anyone here feel strongly about it? After he explained the
situation, I was thinking of putting on WLM, the initial meeting and
the founding of the chapter. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
David

Hi Guys and Girls
Please come review the WLM-2012_BOQ document which outlines provisional
budget estimate for us to undertake the planned WLM on a national level.
The document can be found below and I have already shared with most of you.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkaFhKuJXR2udHMzUjBtQVNJQXIzYj…
Should you have any trouble accessing the document please contact me.
Amongst other things we will need to finalise the following in order to
have the document as realistic as possible.
1) The total number of organizers and volunteers.
2) Finalize number of adjudicators (Prefferably national adjudicators in
order to cut costs).
3) Finalize venues for Launch and prize giving Gala dinner. (JHB or CT).
4) Finalize number of volunteers available for upload marathons. ( We
need 1 per province).
5) Finalize number of people to be invited for the launch and prize
giving functions.
6) Decide funding mechanisms for this budget. Perhaps a percentage
split, get WMF to pledge half and then target other partners to provide
the other half?
7) Verify prizes and try to cut down to half Bar for the competition.
Target date for reviews should be friday 22nd June 2012. The sooner we
get this done and approved, the sooner we can approach earmarked
partners with the figures. We have 73 days left to go, considering that
it takes at least 60 days to get a grant of this magnitude with
governent institutions... this is not enough time. Lets keep moving.
Kindest regards
Dumisani Ndubane
Hi David
Sorry I dint pay attention to this one. I would fill the form, but this
closed on the 10th of June. Please advise if we can still fill in.
Regards
Dumi
