Hi all,
I've skimmed through the archives but couldn't find anything specific to
my circumstances.
My server space uses Linux, Apache, PHP 5.2.9, and MySQL 5.0.51. I'm
with a provider called EasyHosting and they use a server called
www.megawebservers.com. I've installed MediaWiki version 1.15.1 into a
subdirectory called ckbwiki at my site. Previously I installed WordPress
in the root of my public directory and enabled permalinks (their version
of short urls) by editing .htaccess. It works.
I've tried to follow the instructions at
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL. I have a few problems.
One is I don't understand all the different options available and which
one fits my circumstance. The other (which is my own doing!) is that I
make changes to both the LocalHosting.php and .htaccess, upload them
then when it doesn't work I can't isolate the error because I've made
too many changes.
Here's what I've tried so far:
wiki/Page title -- no root access
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL/wiki/Page_title_--_no_roo
t_access
LocalSettings.php
$wgScriptPath = "/ckbwiki"; # Path to the actual files (right
part of first rewrite rule). Should already be in LocalSettings.php
$wgArticlePath = "/wiki/$1"; # Virtual path (left part of first rewrite
rule). MUST be DIFFERENT from the path above!
$wgUsePathInfo = true;
.htaccess
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^wiki/(.*)$ /cbwiki/index.php?title=$1 [PT,L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^wiki/*$ /cbwiki/index.php [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^/*$ /cbwiki/index.php [L,QSA]
Result: loads lauraogrady.ca fine, CKBwiki link
(http://lauraogrady.ca/ckbwiki/index.php/Main_Page) redirects to
http://lauraogrady.ca/wiki/Main_Page, which is a 404)
Since then I've made various other changes with similar errors.
Can anyone please help me troubleshoot this? Thanks.
Laura
I find the extension matrix to be very useful so I put together a new bot.
The old one has been dead for over a year. I don't promise that its bug free
and it's not as beautiful as the current (yet), but it has a few features
that I think make it more desirable than the previous bot and current system
where things are updated by hand:
* Lists 335 more extensions than the current matrix
* The style and content of the matrix are able to be programmed by users.
All of the original template calls provided by the authors are there so
anyone who wants to do fancy wiki markup can.
* There is now a bot (major improvement! ;) I am running it in a nightly
cron job on a highly available server.
* The source code has comments and is posted on the wiki.
It would have been highly preferable to do this project using Semantic
MediaWiki. I could have written a single style template and a single #ask
query and it would be fully updated at all times without a bot.
Here's the extension matrix. It would be nice to replace the current matrix
at some point.

Cheers,
/Brian
I ran run D:\php\php.exe -i as you suggested and I redirected the output to a text file. Here's what I've found:
Configuration File (php.ini) Path => C:\Windows
Loaded Configuration File => D:\php\php.ini
Further down I see a list of Dynamic Extensions. Among these is
extension=php_mysql.dll
Any thoughts?

mysql extension hasn't been loaded, despite your changes to php.ini
Perhaps it's loading a different php.ini?
You can run D:\php\php.exe -i and look for "Loaded Configuration File"

Open a console and run D:\php\php.exe -m
Does it list mysql?
Is it showing some warning message?

Hi,
Just now I tried to install the latest checkout from development trunk and
got the following error when browsing http://localhost/phase3.
*Fatal error*: Call to undefined function json_decode() in *
c:\wamp\www\phase3\js2\mwEmbed\php\jsAutoloadLocalClasses.php* on line *23*
Any clue to fix this issue is highly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Isuru
I have downloaded and installed all the constituent parts of MediaWiki 1.15.1 on Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.
Apache works
PHP works
MySQL is installed via the .msi package.
The MySQL bin directory is in the path as verified by opening a CL window and typing "echo %PATH%"
I have installed MediaWiki according to the instructions, and when I point my browser to it, I get a message telling me that:
PHP 5.2.10 installed
Could not find a suitable database driver!
It then goes on to describe how to compile PHP depending on which database I plan to use.
I think there must be some simple error int he PHP configuration file that is holding things up, but as a novice with this technology, I am hoping that one of you can point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

Thanks for your response. Here is the situation:
As regards the mysql driver, php.ini contains this line:
extension=php_mysql.dll
I confirm that this line does not contain a semi-colon.
As regards the extension_dir entry, it reads:
extension_dir ="D:\php\ext"
I confirm that php is installed on drive D: in the "php" directory which does have a subdirectory named "ext" which does contain a file named "php_mysql.dll".
I confirm that this line also does not contain a semi-colon.
Do you have any other ideas?

Having MySQL bin in the path is not needed (but handy for the client
finding libmysql.dll). What you do need is to have mysqld running.

I bet you haven't enabled mysql extension for php.
You need to edit php.ini and uncomment the php_mysql.dll extension.
Also, make sure extension_dir is pointing to the right folder.

Everyday is an oppurtinity to make a new happy ending :)
Hi All,
Is there anyway to have a dropdown menu where we can display the list of
properties available for the field "Property" instead of a plain text field?
I have Mediawiki 1.15.1, Semantic Forms:1.8.2 and SMW: 1.4.1
Thanks in advance,
