They may be copied from Wikipedia, together with the template/doc provided Wikipedia is credited with under the GNU Free Documentation License. The <noinclude> section is the best place to put that credit. When you edit a Wikipedia page which uses a template, at the bottom you will see the templates listed. Click on them and you will go to their page. If the template is transcluded from a /doc you will need to import the /doc too.
This is not easy and requires a great deal of sophistication. I have been trying with limited success for several weeks to duplicate Wikipedia templates. There is at least one extension you will need to install: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ParserFunctions Perhaps more. As I say, at this point I fail, see http://www.internet-encyclopedia.org/index.php/Uzbekistan
I would appreciate a bit of help on this, also.

I have been using MediaWiki for a long time and noticed that the default edit toolbar is short of functionality... compared to wikimedia.org's toolbar. How does one get the same toolbar as wikimedia.org's toolbar? Is it an additional plug-in / installation? Or is there a setting in the config/settings file?
Cheers

I updated our Intranet wiki from 1.8.2 to 1.9.3 using the shell based
update.php script. It ran through all the way but printed some
warnings:
[...]
Checking if pagelinks index pl_namespace includes field pl_from...
...index pl_namespace on table pagelinks has no field pl_from; adding
Deleting old default messages..."" is not a valid magic thingie for "special"

Done.
linuxsrv1:/var/www/mediawiki-1.9.3/maintenance# cd ..
The Wiki does now run with version 1.9.3, but on every page I get 3
warnings in the header:
Warning: array_slice() [function.array-slice]: The first argument should be an array in /var/www/mediawiki-1.9.3/languages/Language.php on line 1105
Warning: array_slice() [function.array-slice]: The first argument should be an array in /var/www/mediawiki-1.9.3/languages/Language.php on line 1105
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/mediawiki-1.9.3/includes/SpecialPage.php on line 199
As a temporary workaround, I set error_reporting(0) around those
lines, but that's obviously not a proper solution.
There seem to be other users with the same problem, but I did not find
a solution anywhere on the net. Why do these messages occur and how do
I fix this? This error can also be observed on
http://www.apple2games.com/wiki/Main_Page
I reported the error on
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Project:Support_desk#PHP_warnings_in_page_hea…
but did not have any responses so far.
Any ideas?
Best regards

I have imported an XML dump, which uses a number of templates (mainly stubs) then used php rebuildall.php to apply the changes. All the new data is displayed but the templates don't appear until you edit and save the page. I have used the same script on 1.6.9 and it all worked fine - any ideas?
Thanks
Hi,
I tried to find sth on how to change the background for some of the pages in
my wiki (talk, discussion, etc) and also special pages, but I couldn't. I
tried to do some css stuff, but only achieved changing the background of the
wiki itself.
Maybe anyone knows how to do it? I'm not interested in changing part of a
wikipage (by for example placing a table), but the entire wikipage. Or just
point me where it is discussed.
Regards,
Aretai
Dear all,
Is it possible to get some templates? If yes, where I can find them?
I've especially interested in getting templates from
http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Uzbekistan - where country flags and additional
info is on the right of the screen. How do I get it?
Or every wiki developer creates it's own?
Best regards,

Dear Mediawiki Contributors,
I seek help from designers, developers, testers, defect fixers, project
managers or playing any other key role in Free/Open Source software
development or maintenence
in carrying out a study on practices and problems of defect management in
various Free/Open Source Software projects. The
insights gained from the study can further help us to extract publicly
accessible defect data and determine impact of defect management practices
on software quality.
Please spend a few minutes of your precious time to fill up the
Questionnaire. The most of the questions follow multiple choice formats and
are quite easy to answer.
To have the Online Questionnaire, please visit:

I hope you will find all the questions interesting and thought-provoking.
Your answers will be kept anonymous. The data thus collected will
only be used for research purpose. It would be nice if you may further refer

Dear all,
Is it a good practice for using one mediawiki project for different
languages?
I've installed a one project, created two pages: one in Russian, another in
English for example in one project.
Like: http://mysite.com/w/Uzbekistan (en) and http://mysite.com/w/
<http://mysite.com/w/Узбекистан> Узбекистан (ru) = is that a good practice
or should I install two projects for each language like ru.mysite.com and
en.mysite.com?
What do you advice?
