Hi,
1. I am not able to click the 'edit' tab in Firefox to edit a page. There
is no such problem in IE.
2. This problem is there for version 1.6.5 as well as 1.9.0
3. When the (mouse)pointer is moved on the 'article' tab, it can be clicked
(hyperlink hand symbol appears). This does not appear for all the other
tabs - discussion, edit, history.
4. However, the 'section edit' links work and editing is possible for
individual sections.
Did anyone come across an issue like this? Any suggestions/help to fix this
is welcome.
TIA,
Maya Narayanan

Hi All,
I have recently setup MediaWiki for an internal wiki at work.
The wiki is running on windows 2003 with the latest (as of a week ago)
MySQL and PHP.
I have created several users and disabled anonymous editing.
I have set a domain for the cookies which appears to be correct.
I have set an expiration of +3years.
The wiki is similar to wiki.internaldomain.com and the cookie domain is
set to ".internaldomain.com"
When I log in to the wiki the cookie gets set correctly and the page I
get redirected to shows my user name (correct for different users). If I
then refresh this page (or if the page takes a while to load eg.
Manually accepting the cookies) then I am not logged into the system. It
is as if the wiki is failing to read the cookie although it exists.
Secure is set to false on the cookies and the expiration is 3years in
the future (I overrode the default expiration).
Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
Is there an elegant way to have the automatically created Table of
Contents also take into account headings from subpages?
Let's say we're composing a manual, which consists of several chapters
(and maybe even sub-chapters):
1. Introduction
2. Basics
2.1. Installation
2.2. Setup
Now each of those (sub-)chapters has its own subpage:
Manual
Manual/Introduction
Manual/Basics
Manual/Basics/Installation
Manual/Basics/Setup
The resulting ToC might then look somewhat like the following:
Introduction
Legal Disclaimer
Copyright Notice
Basics
Installation
Requirements
Download
=== Installation Process ==
Setup
Network Configuration
User Configuration
I figure this wouldn't be easy (also because of the order in which to
include the respective subpages) - but maybe someone has thought of this
before!?
If not, we'll just create the ToC manually (maybe making use of
transclusion to include the subpages in an extra page, which would then
contain the ToC).
Thanks,
F.
Hi all,
I'm making a template attempting to get ParserFunctions to determine
assigned parameters for me, but it seems like I can't nest multiple
#ifeq-functions.
Imagine the template pseudoimage, it should be able to properly
handle multiple params:
image name.jpg
image name.jpg
image name.jpg

The first case to test is easy, and it works:
Test 1: {} = image name:

----
Test 2: ( same as above, plus checking for SECOND param - works )
{{#ifexist:|
{{#ifeq:{}|""||}}
|}}
----
Test 3: ( same as above, plus checking for THIRD param - does NOT work)
{{ #ifexist:Image:{} |
{{ #ifeq:{} | "" | |
{{ #ifeq:{} | "" | |
}}
}}
|
}}
----
So now, how can I achieve something like this. I need to check at least
five parameters (I think). Any ideas of other ways to achieve the same goal?

I'm reposting my "help" question since I had no response...
I'm using MediaWiki 1.9.3. I had a question about the Template namespace.
I want to use the functionality of the Template namespace but want an
alternative display name (i.e., Resource). So, I updated this file:
\includes\Namespace.php by change the canonical name from "Template"
to "Resource" and Template_talk" to "Resource_talk" (see below). Problem,
though, is that the word "Template:XXX" still appears as part of the page
name or if I include on a pages xxx. I thought by updating the
Namespace.php file that pages would appear with "Resource:XXX." Are there
other pages I must change/customize as well? Any advice?
$wgCanonicalNamespaceNames = array(
NS_MEDIA => 'Media',
NS_SPECIAL => 'Special',
NS_TALK => 'Talk',
NS_USER => 'User',
NS_USER_TALK => 'User_talk',
NS_PROJECT => 'Project',
NS_PROJECT_TALK => 'Project_talk',
NS_IMAGE => 'Image',
NS_IMAGE_TALK => 'Image_talk',
NS_MEDIAWIKI => 'MediaWiki',
NS_MEDIAWIKI_TALK => 'MediaWiki_talk',
NS_TEMPLATE => 'Resource',
NS_TEMPLATE_TALK => 'Resource_talk',
NS_HELP => 'Help',
NS_HELP_TALK => 'Help_talk',
NS_CATEGORY => 'Category',
NS_CATEGORY_TALK => 'Category_talk',
Hello,
I seem to be having some problems with timestamps on our Wiki.
When on the Unix machine which serves our Wiki, if I run the "date"
command, it displays the correct date and time.
When I create a sample PHP file to echo the date (echo "The time is : "
. date("H:i:sa");) it shows the correct time.
When I make an edit in our Wiki, the dates are 4 hours ahead of time. I
made an edit at 10:03am and on the recent changes page it says I made
that change at 14:03.
I am having a similar problem with my Wordpress blog except the weird
thing is that they're not off by the same amount. In fact, the blog has
timestamps of 1 hour earlier as opposed to the 4 hours later that the
Wiki is saying.
Where could I be having my problem with the Wiki?
Does PHP rely on the underlying system's date command or do I need to
configure something? Like I said, it seems to be correct when I echo
date("H:i:sa") in PHP.
Thanks,
~Eric
Ok - sorry for this. The problem is now resolved. I guess after clearing
the cached I needed to close the browser and reload the page.

Subject: Short URLs not reflecting in menu
For some reason that I can't figure out, the short URLs are not reflecting
in my menu bar. I followed the instructions for "Eliminating index.php from
the url" (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Eliminating_index.php_from_the_url)
which works for my pages but for some reason "index.php?title=" is still
showing up for the menu. I've done this successfully for another wiki but
for some reason it's not working completely for http://subjectgeo.com. I've
cleared by cache in case that was the problem.

I'd like this infoboxes aswell, and would know how to make/get them on my
wiki.
Aswell, is the "table" Icon in the edit area a default to enable?
