Does MediaWiki have a built-in way to allow the user to open a page in
the browser by specifying its ID instead of its title?
E.g. http://server/wiki/index.php?id=3829
Hello,
is there any easy way how to install MW with MySLQ 5 (not 4)? By "an
easy way" I mean "no editation of SQL scripts which use features
specific for MySQL 4 which are not available in MySQL 5 (like option
default by blob types etc.).
Once I did all these changes to run MW under MySQL 5 on my personal
PC, but I forgot what I did and now I need to instruct my Internet
server provider, how to make MW working if there is MySQL 5 on the
server...
MM
I found that the error was an umlaut in the name of the author under the extension credits (I had installed the LoopFunctions extension by Carl Fürstenberg). I don't know why this made the Version page blank.
Thanks,
Jen
did you install the google map extension, I noticed that enabling it makes
your version page blank. didn't check it in deep detail though as I don't
need the extension on my site.
cheers,
Peter

I think that would be rather extension not a template. Usually extensions
use <extension></extension> tags to perform given activity. Hooks specifies
details:
$wgParser->setHook( "absHTML", "renderHTML" );
In this case <absHTML></absHTML>
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_extensions_FAQ#How_do_I_write_my_o…
If you want to have a template that contains a parameter then just create a:
wiki/template:MyTemplate
and create content like this on your page:
{{{1}}}
Then if you want a wikipage to make use of it just write
{{MyTemplate|1="Some text"}}
More details here:

i have written several extensions, parser functions and templates already, so this was not my question
say i write a tag extension:
function qwfProcessMyTag($text, $argv, &$parser) {
}
now, if the user uses it in a template as:
<my-tag>
{{{1}}}
</my-tag>
then $text in the function will be {{{1}}}. this will be the case regardless if the template is viewed, or a page containing it. the reason is the parser doesn't replace variables inside tags.
i tried using the mArgStack variable, but apparently tags are evaluated before replaceVariables is called. so when my tag is processed, the arguments have not been set yet

Hi,
How can I write a template that contains:
<my-tag>
{{{1}}}
</my-tag>
so {{{1}}} is replaced?
thanks,

When I navigate to the Special:Version page of my wiki, it appears as though the page is entirely empty. All of the other special pages appear as expected. Any ideas?

Hi,
I was just wondering, instead of upgrading my existing wiki to the new version, can I install another one fresh and then point it to the same DB? Would this work?
- thanks

Hi,
I'm trying to write code that uses tags to manipulate some data and then parser functions to retrieve the result. my page looks something like:
<my-tag>
data
</my-tag>
{{#my-function:}}
my problem is that 'my-function' is called before 'my-tag' (as seen in the debug log). is there a way to make evaluation follow the order of elements in the page?
thanks,
ittay

Hi all,
Seemingly there is no support for posting new articles via api.php
(yet). Too bad Yurik got stuck on EditPage.php, it seems to be a "hairy
ball" to swallow to fix that piece of code, especially for a newbie on
both MediaWiki and PHP like me. Hopefully someone is working on it though.
In the mean time, what would be the simplest way to enable api-like
posting on a hosted server?
I noticed that there's some sort of support for external browsers which
transfers data from local disk into the browser form and then submits
the text, but how was that done "under the hood"?
At first I only need a "quick and dirty" way to post on my own (hosted)
wikis. I would also have some use for a temp solution for use on my
local network machines (having a web of wikis to shuffle stuff between).
All suggestions are welcome.
Regards,
// Rolf Lampa
PS: Btw, has the development on the "official api" stalled? (I really
would if I could, but cleaning up EditPage.php isn't exactly a
"starter"...).
Hi,
Does it take any special permissions to poll the Wikipedias for recent
changes every five minutes or so? I mean, in the long run my IP address
would show up in statistics somewhere and then... what? "Abuse"?
Or is it OK to just keep the queries somewhat small (like 5 minute
intervals for recentChanges etc)?
Are there possibly any mirror sites (with separate dedicated addresses
for replicas) for providing services like this?
Regards,
// Rolf Lampa
