Is there a resource online that can provide some guidance to a newbie on
altering the main page of my wiki? I am looking to have the main page be
dynamic so that different pages are profiled.
Thanks,
Caitlin
Hi,
I'm trying to get rid of the old revisions in my wiki (1.82).
Using "php deleteOldRevisions.php" I get the reply:
Searching for active revisions...done.
Searching for inactive revisions...done.
0 old revisions found.
But for sure, I do have (too many) old revisions in the wiki.
So, where is the problem?
Thanks in advance, zaydo
Hello,
How I do that in my skin.php, that I have a advertisement box like
http://gentoo-wiki.com/Main_Page on the right site.
I tried to do it on http://www.italien.ch/de/wiki/Hauptseite , but it
don't works correct. ( Advertisement is in the article content)
The advertising is insert with include_one(XY?);
With wich tags i reache it?
thank you
andy
I'm working through the errors I'm getting with the latest version of
the StableVersion extension from Subversion, I'm sorted a couple but
have lost the plot with this one:-
Object of class ParserOutput could not be converted to string in
*\includes\Parser.php* on line *2779*
Line 2779 is :
function replaceVariables( $text, $args = array(), $argsOnly = false ) {
# Prevent too big inclusions
2779: if( strlen( $text ) > $this->mOptions->getMaxIncludeSize() ) {
return $text;
}
And this (line 387) is only one place in in the StableVersions.php that
calls replaceVariables()
function getCacheText( &$article ) {
global $wgStableVersionCaching, $wgUser;
$title = $article->getTitle();
$article->loadContent( true ); # FIXME: Do we need the "true"
here? For what? Safe redirects??
$text = $article->mContent;
$p = new Parser();
$p->disableCache();
$wgStableVersionCaching = true;
$parserOptions = ParserOptions::newFromUser( $wgUser ); # Dummy
$text = $p->parse( $text, $title, $parserOptions );
$stripState = $p->mStripState;
$wgStableVersionCaching = false;
387 $text = $p->replaceVariables( $text, $parserOptions );
$this->fixNoWiki( $stripState );
$p->mStripState = $stripState;
$text = $p->unstrip( $text, $p->mStripState );
$text = $p->unstripNoWiki( $text, $p->mStripState );
return $text;
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
John
I think I have fixed the main error if using stable versions with MW
1.91, by changing the line:-
//$text = $p->replaceVariables( $text, $parserOptions );
to:
$text = $p->replaceVariables( $text->mText, $parserOptions );
should be passing mText (the wikitext of the page) as above instead of
the entire Parser object.. I think
This extension now works (shows stable & draft version as expected'
except the 'stable version is cached as the html such as:-
<ol><li>[[/Responsibilities of Social Worker Placing Child/]]
</li><li>[[/Ongoing Support for the Carer/]]
</li><li>[[/Role and Responsibilities of the Child's Social Worker/]]
</li><li>[[/Other Support to Foster Carers/]]
</li></ol>
rather than the wikitext:-
#[[/Responsibilities of Social Worker Placing Child/]]
#[[/Ongoing Support for the Carer/]]
#[[/Role and Responsibilities of the Child's Social Worker/]]
#[[/Other Support to Foster Carers/]]
ie. write as wikitext, set as stable, and if you try to edit you get the
HTML, if you 'revert' you get the wikitext back.
Any comments /. thoughts

Looks like really understandable document. Thanks for it :)
What are the important settings of MySQL 5 to force it to accept
scripts for MySQL 4? Setting non-transactional DB instead of
multifunctional?
I think all other things I did as you write...

Hi,
I want to update my wiki to version 1.9.2 (hoping to solve the
deleteOldRevisons-problem ;-))
Before doing that I want to clean up the cache, by removing all cached pages
(cache directory). But since there some tables with cache information, I'm
looking for the best 'strategy' to do that.
Would it be sufficient to simply delete all files in cache directory as
mentioned in "http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/File_cache"?
If so, what will happen with the table entries? $wgCacheEpoch is already set
to a time in the past.
Thanks in advance, zaydo
