On my wiki I cannot seem to get uploads working. In fact I have completely
deinstalled and reinstalled in case something else was causing the problem,
so this is about as "clean" a build as possible (v1.6.6).
The things I have done are:
a) set $wgEnableUploads = true;
b) chmoded the "images" directory to be "drwxrwxrwx" which I verify in the
directory listing.

Any ideas how to resolve this? thanks.

I am new to MediaWiki though quite familiar with TiddlyWiki and the ilk.
I am running on Fedora Core 4 2.6.9-34.ELsmp #1 and MW 1.6.6.
I have the latest WikiSpell, but I'm not seeing any Spell Checking.
Any Hints?

Hi All,
I have a mediawiki installation (1.5.8) on which I wanted to enable email
notification. A user should get a notification mail whenever any of the
pages in his watchlist changes. How do you I do this?
The Enotif site (http://www.wikipage.org/wikinaut/index.php/Enotif) says
that most of the features of Enotif are available in mediawiki (>1.5.6) and
recommeds use of mediawiki itself.
But the mediawiki (preferences page for sysop) does not provide the required
options. I found the webpages and the documentation on Enotif to be
confusing.
Please let me know incase any of you know of the same.
thanks and best regards
Shiv
Hi Guys,
Another question : How do I ensure that the default skin is
the only one users are allowed to view ( i.e: disabling all other skins
in the preferences setting?? )?
Thanks in advance..
AJ.
Hi, folks! I need your help!
I have been trying to solve it myself for hours (sorry, I am a 4 days old wiki fan), please help!
I want to add the search box under the navigation bar to another page(on the same wiki). In a new pageI tried to copied the following html code :
<div id="p-search" class="portlet">
<h5><label for="searchInput">search</label></h5>
<div id="searchBody" class="pBody">
<form action="/data/wiki/index.php/Special:Search" id="searchform"><div>
<input id="searchInput" name="search" type="text" accesskey="f" value="" />
<input type='submit' name="go" class="searchButton" id="searchGoButton" value="go" />
<input type='submit' name="fulltext" class="searchButton" value="search" />
</div>
I also tried to use the source code in another wiki website( http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page), howvever neither worked for me. I only saw a bunch of html code showed up.
please help!!!

We do this, but I've still found that I'm wanting to delete spammer
accounts for the following reasons:
1. The spammer accounts are very old and dormant.
2. The spammers continue to make new accounts.
3. The user list needlessly grows with many banned accounts.
4. The accounts often have usernames that are desired by real users.
It would be nice if Mediawiki could delete the account, and all edits
from deleted accounts would be attributed to either a) the last used IP
address for that account, or b) simply "User Deleted".
I supposed we could just renamed the accounts to User Deleted ### and
just increment the number, but that would only help with #4.

Just block them indefinitely...

OK, can't put it off much longer....
I would like to install the new version in a different directory, to test
before committing.
I'm using a third party host, do not have root access.
I have a fresh intall of 1.6.0 running in the testing directory.
I've created a separate MySQL db for this install.
I've exported all of the files from the 1.3.9's MySQL db to my local HD.
Is there any way I can import that data into the 1.6.0 controlled db? Is
there an upgrade script that will handle this?

A better solution would be to work out how to disable a user.
That way at least you have a historic track of the user, even
if they no longer have the ability to log in.

It leaves edits with no editing user. Among other things; why do you
need to remove it, 'swoop'?
