That particular link is currently irrelevant for our use, so we'd like
to get rid of it for the time being. I tried putting an empty string
into the system message "privacy" page, but that just resulted in a link
something like "OurSite:Privacy_policy" coming up, so obviously some
additional substitution was going on internally. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ken
Hey guys,
I set up Mediawiki here at work and I was wondering if there was a
way to restrict the registration of users to use their corporate e-mail
address.
Basically, I want to set it up so that they can only register if
they use an address that ends with "@siemens.com"
Thanks,
~Eric
Do most people here run a third party stats package such as Mint
Stats (http://www.haveamint.com/) with their wiki?
Are there any known conflicts or issues?
Any major performance concerns?
thanks
Hello Everyone,
in our organization we would like to set up several wikis to coordinate
and document our various projects. Several of these projects have
outside participants so we would like these people to have access to
some of the wikis, but not all of them. One of the wikis will have no
outside participants and will only be available to our employees.
We are now looking for a way to allow these core users to log into the
other wikis with their login information from the main wiki so they
don't have to juggle with multiple logins. Is there an easy way or an
existing solution to get the different wikis to check the "main wiki"
user table in addition to their own or do you have any other ideas how
this functionality can be accomplished.
Thanks,
Jan-Paul Köster
I am rolling out MediaWiki on my intranet. Some users have created more than one account for themselves. I dont know why they did this. I would like to remove the redundant user accounts.
----
It leaves edits with no editing user. Among other things; why do you
need to remove it, 'swoop'?

Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less.
My setup is as follows:
1) Yes you do need the PEAR thing. I'm running Gentoo so it was a simple
"emerge PEAR-Net_SMTP", and everything just dropped into the right
place.
2) My $wgSMTP is as follows:
$wgSMTP = array {
"host" => 'myMailServer',
"IDHost" => 'mycompany.com',
"port" => "25",
"auth" => false
};
In my situation I have a Linux machine running within a Windows network.
The mail server is a Microsoft mail server, myMailServer - the names
have been changed to protect the innocent, so I just pointed wgSMTP at
it. I don't need to log in to send email hence "auth" is false. If you
do need to log in then you have to provide a user name and password.
3) That's it.

Andrew Lowe

Hi all,
Wiki is working fine following change in Localsettings.php
#$wgArticlePath = "$wgScript/$1";
$wgArticlePath = "$wgScript?title=$1";
So I am able to access my wiki again, but with $wgArticlePath =
"$wgScript/$1"; wiki is not showing up.
as suggested in irc I disscussed with my provider they see no problem.
I am still trying some rewrite rules .. but I don't know where the probelm
is since my provider was rebuilding apache, so is the problem at wiki ? or
in apache configuration , what should I ask my provider for in that case?

A few published autologin solutions, as well as
SpecialUserLogin::processlogin uses the $wgUser= $u followed by
$wgUser->SetCookies method similar to the below snippet to login an
existing user.
When running this as a hook function, the Cookies won't set (won't
login). Debug log shows $tmpuser->getID()=13 and
$tmpuser->getName()='John Smith' just prior to the $wgUser=$tmpuser
statement.
Cookies are enabled,
What else is needed?
Thanks for any input,
Brian

function AutoL(&$user)
{
global $sso_UN,$wgUser, $wgCommandLineMode;
if ( !$wgCommandLineMode && !isset( $_COOKIE[session_name()] ) ) {
User::SetupSession();
}
//Cancel if session is current
$tmpuser = User::LoadFromSession();
if($tmpuser->isLoggedIn())
return;
//Is the user already in the database?
$tmpuser = User::newFromName($sso_UN);
//If exists, log them in
if($tmpuser->getID() != 0)
{
$tmpuser->loadFromDatabase();
$wgUser = $tmpuser;
$wgUser->setCookies();
$wgUser->saveSettings();
return;
}
}
Any brainstorms why the following would produce null output when
placed near the 'bottom' in Localsettings.php?
$sso_ID = $_SERVER['HTTP_SSO_ID'];
error_log( SSO ID=".$_SERVER['HTTP_SSO_ID']."\n",3, 'c:\wiki\errorlog.txt' );
error_log( SSO ID=".$sso_ID."\n",3, 'c:\wiki\errorlog.txt' );
HTTP_SSO_ID is can be output by visiting page test.php, which contains:
<?php
$sso_ID = $_SERVER['HTTP_SSO_ID'];
print "The SSO ID is $sso_ID<br />";
?>
Thanks,
Brian
Our installation is heavily used and growing rapidly. That means that
update/enhancement requests are also growing.
My latest comes from a visit to the wikipedia site.
In the top of the main page, there is a navigation bar with 'portal' links.
I have searched everywhere and see the references to the portal namespace.
My question is:
a) how do I enable the portal namespace on 1.6.6.
b) How do I add the browse bar at the top of the main page? I see lots of
references to "portals template<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Portals>"
and "Portal:Browse <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Browse>" simply
creates a new empty page.
Is there a template I need to install? or activate?
Thanks
Andy
