Hi,
A lot of what I am using our wiki for is how-to guides with a lot of
screen shots.
I have found that even if I place an image in a section it may be
displayed in another section.
The only way I have found to make sure that the instructions are placed
next to the screen shot they pertain to is to put them both in a table
and separate each of the tables with a horizontal dividing line (this is
shown below).
My problem with this is that it defeats the purpose of a wiki in that it
is no longer easy to edit by average Joe.
Is there another method to get pictures and related text to be put
together in a nice way?
Some of our pages have 12 or so screen shots with 3 or 4 instructions
per each screen shot.

# do this
# then this
# and finally this

{|

# one
# two
# buckle your shoe

[[Image:another picture.jpg|thumb|200 px]]
|}
Thanks,
~Eric
Thanks a lot. That worked great.

So I have a template called Box Note defined as follows
{| width="75%" cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 style="background-color:
#c1ffc1; border: 1px dashed green; padding: 0px 4px;"
|-
| width="50" valign="top" | '''Note:'''
| {{{1}}}
|}
Now when try to use it with the following I get the boxed note but it
doesn't say "Key = 5" it says {{{1}}}. How do I need to escape the =
sign?
{{Box Note|Key = 5}}
Thanks,
~Eric

Hello
I like to put a changelog into a wiki and have the following text
displayed as template *every* time I edit a specific blocks:
~~~~<br>
<pre style="font-size: x-small;">
</pre>
Is this possible? I played around with {{..}} and {{subst:..}} but
it does not seem to do the job, subst e.g. vanishes after the first
edit.
Or is it possible to launch an Extension at the beginning or end of
specific edits?
bye,
-christian-
It also helps if your host's disk space limits don't get in the way. I
wasn't at my limit, but close.
Emptying empty trash and waiting half an hour and persistant helped
somewhat. Anyway, the host doubled my space allowance and I eventually got
all the images downloaded and then uploaded to the new directory.
Now to get rid of the " <site notice> "
off to the archives...
I, too, had really slow page retrievals. It would take sometimes up to two minutes for the page to finally and fully arrive.
My host (GoDaddy) made changes to my site's PHP.INI file:
Commented out the following lines...
#[Zend]
#zend_extension=/usr/local/zo/ZendExtensionManager.so
#zend_extension=/usr/local/zo/4_3/ZendOptimizer.so
Hope it helps.
I tried to google and read the MediaWiki FAQ, but I could not find the
answer. What's the trick to remove the <h1 class="firstHeading">Main
Page</h1> and the lines from the main page, so there's no block above
the contents, similar to the top page in wikipedia? Thx, Kent
Is there any way to enable inline editing in mediawiki i.e. the editing form
shows up inline (ajax) in the context of the rest of the page?
I would actually take this any day over wysiwyg editors.
Thanks.
Is it possible to pull information into a mediawiki page from an external database (as used on an .asp page)?
