Is there some config variable to restrict the granting of "sysop"
priv to only the sysop account, and not other accounts in the sysop
group? If not, where in the code should I rummage to find the right
place to add a mod?
I'm having a problem with search engines crawling the site.. they cant
seem to get past the main page.. any idea how I can get them to index my
site?
Thanks,
AJ
Hi, I have a wiki which I use internally on my network. However I want
to map it out now, so I can access it from external.
I have been accessing the wiki via
http://webserver (local name)
When I try to access it via
http://myExternalHostName
It just tries to resolve to http://webserver
How do I fix it up to allow from more than one URI.
Thanks.
Hi,
Have been using the Poll extension
(http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Poll ) which is working rather well...
would any of you guys know how to prevent anonymous users from
participating in the polling??
Thanks,
AJ
Hi,
We use wikis (media wiki) in academic courses.
We have doubts regard the wiki configuration.
Currently we install separate wiki for each course (around 10 courses, no
sharing between the courses, need to implement different security scheme to
each course).
We are looking for more scalable solution.
Do you think we shall continue with separate installation? different
namespace for each course? Use categories? other ideas?
Thanks for your help

Please forgive what may be an unduly elementary question. But I've been
fruitlessly looking through documentation on Meta, and in the
LocalSettings (and DefaultSettings) files for a cue.
(In MW 1.6) How do I change the size limits on file uploads? Is it
something that can be done in LocalSettings.php, or does it require
something in the the server's php.ini or something like that?
The docs for enabling uploads in the first place, and for changing the
list of accepted file extensions, worked fine. But I can't seem to find
the setting for the size limit.
Thanks much,
==Mitch

Cool. I was thinking about a single page with a list of pages to
include, but
I wasn't really sure about the actual mechanism. My only concern is what
happens when you load a page with that many other pages that the
resulting
PDF would be 250 pages long? I'm not worried about it being slow as we
would
only be doing this once a month. I am just wondering how MediaWiki would
react.

Hi,
I am very interested in how you can use Wiki as an academic course.
Is there some reading I can do on the matter?
Thanks,
