How is possible to ask if a page (an article) already exists at mediawiki?
How do I know if the user visiting a page is already logged in or not?
Thanks in advance.

Hey,
How can I get it so that my wiki (1.6.5 - New installation) doesn't
have an index.php/ or index.php?title=? So it's just like wikipedia
with url/title ?
Thanks,
Jeremy
Thank you for your attention...
Well, the thing is what you (Elliott F. Cable) offer is not a direct
solution, and it does not work for what I need.
The thing is that I need a complex sentence of templates which some are
substituted and some are not substituted and inside the templates that are
not - I need the parameter to be substituted templates.
Maybe it will help if I tell you the main purpose of this little thing, but
it still is a problem (which I call: bug)
What I try to do is to give my user an option to sign with an alternative
date - let say (for the example) - by the Hebrew date system. The
transformation from the server date to the Hebrew one is by a template.
Let say that the template gets today as a parameter, and returns a new date
due to a {{switch}} template inside her. In the ~~~ I need that the template
will return the current Hebrew date, that won't change with the time
passing... something like:
{{hebrewdate{{subst:CURRENTDAY}}{{subst:CURRENTMONTH}}}}
But if I'll write:
{{subst:hebrewdate{{subst:CURRENTDAY}}{{subst:CURRENTMONTH}}}}
I'll get the {{switch}} written all over the page with all of its cases.
That's not professional, and quite ugly.
Hope it helped to understand the problem.
Thanks again!
Peleg.
Why "-" and "MediaWiki:Monobook.css" ?

Hi, I've made a little parser extension for my needs.
I want this extension add automatically the page where it's called to a
category, say Category:Foobar.
In my function, I wrote :
return $wgOut->parse('blabla[[Category:Foobar]]');
but my page isn't added to category Foobar. "blabla" is working very well.
What is wrong with my code ?
Thanks in advance,

You have to add your login page to the white list. See includes/DefaultSettings.php for more details:
# Pages anonymous user may see as an array, e.g.:
# array ( "Main Page", "Special:Userlogin", "Wikipedia:Help");
# NOTE: This will only work if $wgGroupPermissions['*']['read']
# is false -- see below. Otherwise, ALL pages are accessible,
# regardless of this setting.
# Also note that this will only protect _pages in the wiki_.
# Uploaded files will remain readable. Make your upload
# directory name unguessable, or use .htaccess to protect it.
$wgWhitelistRead = false;

I am a green hand in surfing the wiki world.
Since I could not get onto the wikimedia official site all the times for
unknown reasons, I wonder whether anyone have the MediaWiki User's Guide
book. Please email a copy of it to wkbjerry(a)gmail.com.
Thanks very much.
Best regards
I see a lot about this in the code, how can I make it work? Can't
seem to do so. I looked at the relevant bits in various places, and I
actually thought I had figured out how to do so... then it didn't. We
really need this, so is there any way?
Hello all, and thanks for your help!
A question about signing with "~~~":
In my preferences page, I can choose to edit my sign-up by myself. Well, the
problem is that when I insert a template inside the signing-text, it becomes
immediately a "SUBST" template.
i.e. - when I use the template {{CURRENTDAY}} it suddenly becomes
{{SUBST:CURRENTDAY}} when I save the preferences page. If I want my signing
to keep moving, or for any other reason do not write the template itself,
Can I do it somehow?
Thanks ahead,
Peleg.
Is there a PHP "If" statement I can wrap around an element to have it appear
only in my skin in article view and not in edit mode? I display a random
image from my web sites photo gallery on every page in my wiki but would
like to have these random images appear ONLY in article view and not hog
space when the user goes into the "edit" view for the article. How can I do
this?
