My server went down last night as the result of a power outage and my
wiki didn't restart. Someone else installed the wiki for me and they're
not around this week so although I know where all the components are
installed I'm not sure where to start. So, how do I restart my wiki?
I'm running Solaris10.
Thanks

MediaWiki 1.6.6 is a security and bugfix maintenance release.
An XSS injection vector in brace replacement has been fixed, as have some
potential problems with table parsing. Upgrading is strongly recommended
for all users of 1.6. MediaWiki versions 1.5 and earlier are not affected.
As a quick fix, if you are not able to fully upgrade to 1.6.6 you can apply this
two-line patch to fix the main known problems:
http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/branches/REL1_6/phase3/includes/S…
Additionally some localization and user interface updates are included.
* Correct "revertpage" message in English
* (bug 5507) Logouttext uses now wiki markup
* (bug 5857, 5957) Update for German localisation (de)
* (bug 5586) <gallery> treated text as links
* (bug 5957) Update for Hebrew language (he)
* (bug 6025) SpecialImport: wrong message when no file selected
* (bug 6015) EditPage: add spacing in the boxes "edit is minor" and "watch this"
* (bug 6018) Userrights: new message when no user specified ('nouserspecified')
* (bug 6055) Fix for HTML/JS injection bug in variable handler (found by Nick
Jenkins)
* Reordered wiki table handling and __TOC__ extraction in the parser to better
handle some overlapping tag cases.
* Only the first __TOC__ is now turned into a TOC.
* (bug 361) URL in URL, they were almost fixed. Now they are.

hi,
I write my stuff in Openoffice. I would like to publish in my wiki. Is
there a converter or a publisher so that i can publish these documents?
Regards,
M. Piscaer
Hi!
As far as I understood in order to add a page to a category a "tag" of the
form
[[Category:myCategory]] must be added.
This will generate a link to that category of the form:
.../index.php/Category:myCategory
But if the category doesn't exist the link will be of the form:
.../index.php?title=myCategory&action=edit
in order to edit and add some text to "myCategory"
I would like to know if it possible to avoid this last behaviour. I mean,
when a category is required either
a default text is generated for that category or directly o link of the form
.../index.php/Category:myCategory
is generated.
Thanks in advance,
Luis

Hello! Anybody who have successfully installed html2fpdf with mediawiki for the latest mediawiki stable release?
Can anyone with the kind heart update this page
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/HTML2FPDF_and_Mediawiki
for the latest mediawiki stable release?
Thanks a lot! :)

A bit ago, I posted a question about not being able to get the MW web
config interface to accept my superuser name and password. But, the fact
that I was using the OS's root name/password, rather than MySQL's, was
an unfortunate oversight on my part. <Thumps forehead>. All is well now.
Many thanks to everyone for all their help in getting this up,
Ken
Let's say I want to change the function wfReportTime() to not comment
out the time, so I can place it somewhere relevant in the skin - but
I don't want to modify any files in the /includes/ folder so I can
easily upgrade things in the future. How, exactly, would I write an
extension that I can just drop in the extensions folder to replace an
existing function with my own version? Just so you know, you are
talking to pretty much a PHP noob.
Given that we may be fairly high-usage, memcached seems like a good
idea, but we'd also like to get the initial site up ASAP. Is it possible
to start and put initial content into the site, and then add memcached
at a later date?
Thanks,
Ken
My apologies to the mailing list--I just sent an email which I'd thought
would go only to the original author of an article, but which appears to
be headed for the mailing list. I'll be more careful in the future.
